About the Author
Anja Grebe teaches art history at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. She has taken part in numerous international research projects and exhibitions and has published extensively on medieval and modern art history. Grebe is also the author of The Vatican: All the Paintings. She lives in Erlangen, Germany.

This book arrived with torn cover and tear was through to page 17. This book was for a gift but I will tape and keep. Caution: buy books for gifts only in a retail store where you can see product . Bolo may have started as online book seller but shipping books is no longer in their top priority for quality . Books was shipped loose in box with absolutely no packing. But tear was likely done prior to packing. This is an Bolo complaint. The book is a beautiful presentation of masterpieces in Florence and no problem with publishing/publisher .

This book includes a vast amount of art. Some of the illustrations are small due to the amount included. Text is very helpful. The book is quite heavy - but beautiful for the coffee table.

I think this is the most incredible value I have ever received. I have been searching for a book like this for years. I am an avid lover of Italian Renaissance Paintings, Frescoes, and Art. This book is worth 4 times more than I paid for it.Gratefully, I found this book Which is so amazing and beautiful.I can tell it was put together by someone who also has a great passion for Italian art. I also have the Louvre and The Vatican by Anja Grebe, she and Ross King have done an amazing job with this book.This book also comes in a sturdy box with the same Botticelli Venus picture on it.If you love Italian Art, you should not be without this book.

This is hands down my favorite coffee table art book I have. The images are fantastic, the presentation of the book itself is incredible. I got it on sale for 30 dollars and the quality is superior to some books I have that are were a couple hundred dollars. Even at the original price of 80, it would be worth it. This is a great addition to your art history library!

This is a beautiful book however the quality of the assembly of the book leaves a little to be desired.(Glue issues). The Text is very interesting and the illustrations although small in some instances are excellent. I would recommend this book to anyone with only the slightest interest in art.

Amazing collection of my fav art
The book is very good in terms of the explanation of the art and the artist.
Comprehensive, great artwork, excellent background info as a bonus - highly recommend!
Very thorough. I was expecting the comprehensive pictures of frescoes & artwork. What I wasn't expecting was the great write-ups on select key artwork pieces and extra historical background of the various churches and museums. This complemented my other history references I'm reading/watching in preparation for a vacation to Italy. It's a BIG book - so be prepared to spend some quality time with it.
