Diane J. Omdahl, RN, MS is a true pioneer in the field of Medicare benefits. She is a registered nurse who launched her first company Beacon Health Corporation—a provider of Medicare-related education, training and tools for home health agencies, long-term care facilities and their employees—in the basement of her home and grew it into a multi-million-dollar company. My requirement to register was a few years ago and my wife's mandatory enrollment is next year. I have VA/Military, and a Government plan. Regardless of individual situation, navigating through the Medicare structure and options is interesting to say the least. We have purchased several texts to help us learn what we need to understand. This text is the most straight forward and easily presented of the bunch - for us. Very good guide.

I am a medical assistant and I bought this book to keep at my desk. Patients ask us all kinds of Medicare questions. When should I enroll and do I have to enroll if I am working? The timing chapter lists all different scenarios for someone turning 65 so I can review that with them.Then another good chapter for me is the one on living with Medicare. It talks about the differences in how Medicare works if you have a supplement or a Medicare Advantage plan. That sometimes helps my nurses figure out what needs to be done.The index helps me find what I need and there’s a web page mentioned in the book that lists all the updates. I might buy one for a doctor who is getting close to Medicare age.

This book was featured on television as an all-in-one answer book. For this reason I bought it for one reason and one reason only—the difference(s) between regular Medicare and the much-touted Medicare Advantage. Hopefully, your questions will be as well. It’s complete, concise and well written; it’s an easy read and good reference. Hope this author writes more!
