Don't let the 4-star review sound overly critical. Buy this book and use it. There is a lot of incredible information in this.I have followed Asprey's advice from his podcasts and other materials, and this book is 100% in line with that. I'm writing this review after having read the book to make certain there was nothing contradicting the "bulletproof diet" plan I was already on. Long story short, it's all here.The Good:Dave's diet plan does one thing incredibly well -- it highlights the critical need for GOOD FATS!!! Good fat like grass-fed butter, ghee, and coconut oil (as well as avocado) is absolutely necessary to good health of the mind and body.The "don't eat" list is pretty standard fare but accurate.Dave also breaks things down into very understandable terms and gives actionable advice. If you read copious amounts of cutting-edge health info, Dave's work is on-target and a much needed contribution. The more this info gets out there, the better. Dave would probably be the first to say he isn't the peddler of anything unique other than perhaps the coffee (I'd heard of using coconut oil in coffee pre-Dave, but not butter), but he's making the information more accessible and deserves to be lauded for that.The Not-so-AwesomeThe diet may be bulletproof, but it isn't a silver bullet (because no such thing exists). I would appreciate a section called "If this diet doesn't work for you, then...". Dave's advice regarding proper fats will correct most hormonal issues long-term, but there will be some people for whom this will not work or who will not have it work as well as it could. Finding a good endocrinologist may be necessary for you if you aren't getting good results. Especially if you are a female -- guys get a genetic leg-up with our hormones, and while it's not fair, if this plan doesn't work for you, it's a pretty good indicator you have something going on with what is to me the most complicated part of human machinery.There's nothing "bad" in here. The book is a great sales funnel for Dave's supplements and coffee, and that is NOT a bad thing. I'm all for cross-marketing. The only "meh" thought I have regarding this is that Dave's prices on the supplements this book will lead you to are a bit steeper than I suspect are necessary. The cost of most of his supplements are prohibitive for guys and gals starting from zero.That said, Dave's work of pointing me in a different direction (especially in light hacking!) has had a very positive effect on my life and health. He's quite deserving of being added to my list of effective biohackers/teachers like Tim Ferriss, David Perlmutter, and William Davis.Action = results, and the actions detailed in this book will have the amazing results advertised for most people.

After reading The Bulletproof Diet, I decided to give it a shot (what do I have to lose except pounds?). I had Yo-Yoed my way through Fit for Life, Weight Watchers, Paleo, Mediterranean, Body for Life, Atkins, then Keto, and Carnivore. Though each diet worked modestly in the short term, they were all losing battles. This is the first diet I will recommend...because it WORKS! In under four months, I have shed 36 unwanted lbs., gained tons of energy, brain focus like never before, and so many more health benefits! I can tell I've found a winning strategy for the long-term.

The title of this book contains "Diet". It should not have this word in it. This is a guide to how to make your own diet based on your own testing of how things effect you. The author tells the story of his life in a way that is easily relatable to yours self and explains metabolizm in a very easy to understand way yet is deep enough for a biochem major to be satisfied. This goes over almost every supplement, Food group and food additive you could find in 2017. He needs to do a 2nd edition. for those who wish to understand the reasons for obesity and learn the language this is a great starter book. Audio book is well narrated and pleasant to listen to. Be advised that the author sells health related products but to his credit they all do just as he describes in this book and the information is confirmed in many other books on the topic.Be advised low carb diets work but they are on or off. If you do low carb you will lose weight and if you eat carbs you will immediately gain it back. I lost 45 pounds and gained 20 back before I found that intermittent fasting and high quality carbs on special occasions was the answer to stay at a set weight. Holding that weight now for 5 years +/- 5 lbs. Thanks Dave for the great foundation to this journey!

Dave doesn't use 'fluff' or speculation, it's all backed by cutting edge research and science. I've listened to the podcast for some time now and Dave truly stands behind the science of what he teaches and doesn't hesitate to correct himself if proven wrong on something. This guy is always learning more about human performance and would sooner be called out on being wrong then claim false information. That honesty is rare in todays world and almost non-existent in the health and nutrition industry. If I had to trust anybody on nutrition and performance it would be Dave Asprey, hands down.Great book! Worth the wait!- I dream of a Canada where grass-fed butter will be available in every grocery store, and never be out of stock!

I really appreciate that Dave Aspley has written this book - have reread it couple of times and will keep doing so.It gives so much background as to why - as the ideas are so non-traditional it can sometimes feel like you are caught up in a 'fad' but the explanations Dave gives allay my fears - also lots of references to scientific studies that are both informative and interesting.Love the Bulletproof recipes in the back... really yummy satisfying food.

Yuppified take on Keto/Paleo/Price type diet. Good ideas for those with thick wallet. Jesus loves ya.

Firstly. For those critical of the quasi (non) scientific aspect of the book, anyone who has studied nutrition for long knows there is a science lag, that most health claims work for some people and it is very hard to isolate diet in scientific research. The author provides a mixture of evidence and his own and others experiences to back his diet system up.Secondly. It's fairly readable. A nice looking, well put together book.It does seem a bit weak on how to apply it and having just read Keto-Clarity, it definately isn't a ketogenic diet; which I kind of follow. I doubt you would get the therapeutic benefit of Ketosis by swinging in out of that state like the other seems to advise. He says there are health and bad breath problems with keto-genic diets, yet keto-clarity seems to refute this. To properly adapt to ketosis takes about 6 weeks.This book will appeal to anyone interested in Ketogenic/Paleo/Price/Warrior diet/fasting type ideas and the fact that not everything seems completely kosher is just an opportunity for individuals to exercise discretion.All in all I think it is a fresh, interesting take on diet which will work ell for some and which contains some good ideas.I wouldn't but any of his other stuff as I don't have the money.I just grind my own coffee every morning and have MCT oil/coconut oil/Ghee/Cream and butter with it and a flask full for the day. It is lush and filling.God blessee.Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
