I owned the first edition for many years until I gave it to my son at his request. I miss my original edition and was disappointed that it is no longer available but I am glad I purchased this newer version. It is nicely laid out, well-organized, well-written, full of good information, clear instructions, and accompanying illustrations that are very helpful. If you don’t have the good fortune to own the original version, I do recommend this newer edition as a comparable and suitable alternative.

Great reference book for any sewing level. This hardbound book will last forever. It's a strong well made book with print that is large enough to follow comfortably. I've always found that Reader's Digest makes excellent reference books that are thorough.

This book is surprisingly good. Lots of pictures and detailed explanations of clothes making like collars, pockets, dresses, pants…all kinds of stuff. Also good info on home decor too. I highly recommend this book….i find myself going back to it over and over.

The Updated Edition of the Reader's Digest "Complete Guide To Sewing" is very nice. Each chapter is CLEARLY defined and color coded. It follows a similar chapter to chapter review from the 1976 version. It suits my basic needs.

There is so much information. New to the craft, I was a little intimidated by how much information there is. I didn’t find all the information I was looking for so I had to order 2 more books😁

I really like this book. The book has everything you need to know about where to start and how to continue to learn new things, such as pattern making. Great for beginners and for those advanced practitioners who want to take their sewing to the next level.

Great compilation of sewing techniques
This has been written in the style of a magazine so it doesn't really follow the rules of a book - the first to last project isn't easiest to hardest. However, the depth of knowledge gained from this compilation is unparalleled.
Fount of sewing knowledge
This book was recommended and oh boy does it deliver. Typical Readers Digest quality. I don't think there is any question I've asked if thus book that hasn't delivered in full. Clear concise and easy to understand

This is more than just a beginner’s sewing book. It is highly recommended by several YouTube sewing channels. It has plenty of illustrations and easy to read, to the point directions. I highly recommend this book for beginners as well as intermediate sewists who want to expand their skills.
