This book has become the reason to visit the beach. We’re already half way through it. It’s fun, engaging and teaching. There’s a little magnifying glass that comes with it and that was just a smart add!

This is our 3rd of these books. We have the nature trail & bug editions as well. They’re simply the best! We have a 3.5 year old who loves the outdoors, and we’re getting ready to have a beach vacation next month. Not only are they informational with things like shell, seaweed & marine life identification (as well as plants, birds etc), but they inspire creativity (which admittedly I lack sometimes). For example it discusses things you can do in the sand - why have I never thought of hopscotch at the beach?! It recommends adding cute things like rocks and shells to your sand castles, making shell art & sundials, getting your senses involved like smelling & touching, life cycles of some animals you can find on the beach like crabs… I can go on and on. Truly, this book and every one in the series is worth your money. You’re guaranteed to learn a thing or two, as well.

I boughtvthis for my 4 year old grandson to take on his beach vacation. He enjoyed the pictures and the activities that were suggested in each chapter. Although I wasn't with him on the vacation he did talk about what he saw on the beach each day. Hopefully he'll use again sometime.

We LOVE this book! It was a great way to engage our toddler before, during and after our visit to Canon Beach. Nearly everything was immediately applicable, and it's helped to solidify the learning experiences he had there, and commit it to memory. I wish it was plastic free, but that's tough in an environment with water. Definitely recommend, and will seek out similar books for our other outdoor adventures.

My kids love this book and still do, they constantly look over and reminisce over our trip and what we saw and asked if we can go see other things that are in the book. It is just fun and full of learning, I wish I would have hid it before the trip because my kids did absolutely every activity they could before we got to the beach, and lost the magnifying glasses which is fine strangely enough I actually have extra. But it would have made a really good surprise. And I can't take away stars for that.

I have a parent with Dementia. She no longer reads books because she can't remember the story line. Magazines and other books that are large print do not appeal since there are so many words and she struggles to follow the story. This book and the others in the series (I now have 3) have a good mixture of pictures and written text in easy to read format that keep her attention for a period of time. Folks who create books for dementia patients need to take note. I would give this more stars if I could.

My children are 3 &5. This book is a great resource when we are camping at the beach and doing aquariums. We live in Northern California and most of this is very relevant to our area. If you lived or planned a beach stay (a couple of days on the beach, not a single day visit) this would be great for your small children. Probably good up to 8-10years depending on how involved of a parent you are and able to adjust the curriculum to their level.
