About the Author
The late Arthur Newhall had a unique and varied background in the lettering and graphic design fields. His work included type designing, theater lobby displays, movie titles, sign painting, advertising art, lettering for reproduction, and art for screen printing. He also worked as art director for an advertising agency. All of these disciplines added to the refinement of his calligraphy skills. A stickler for precision and style, Newhall was always prepared to help and guide both the novice and professional. He was one of the innovators of one of the most spectacular letter styles ever created—the Cartoon Casual—as well as a Modern Script of the 40s and 50s.
The late Eugene Metcalf's natural talent in various art fields established him as a top calligrapher and designer. With a specialty in lettering design, Metcalf created logos for a variety of commercial applications. Of his more than 30 years in the commercial art industry, almost half of them were spent as art director and top designer for major outdoor advertising companies in the Los Angeles area.

This set is a good beginners set. Has instructions to help guide you along the way. It would have been nice if they would have added a plastic template to draw straight lines to use when doing calligraphy on unlined paper.

I ordered these for the second time because I loved my first set so much. They are perfect for a beginner like me. The set includes a wedge tip marker for beginner, a calligraphy pen with several interchangeable nibs and different ink colors. Also included was a beginner instructional manual as well as practice paper for practice sessions. This is everything a beginner needs to learn to do basic calligraphy! Nice! Arrived quickly and very well packaged!

This set looked so promising until I opened up with blister pack containing the ink cartridges and found one had leaked. I was willing to accept that, however, the other cartridges I tried were dried out. I wanted this to work out because the instruction book was wonderfully layed out. Sadly, I ended up returning it.

This item came very quickly and packaged very well. This book is amazing, I bought it for my daughter who is very artistic. She picked it up very quickly and loves it. She told me she loves it so much she has already told many of her friends about it and sent the link to it so they could also buy it.

Some nibs didn’t work. Hard to get extra ink. Sometimes the ink leaks out of pen. Fairly good.

I love this product and the different “tips” that it comes with. I wish it came with some type of case or holder to store them in, if you purchase this product, and want some type of storage container, you will have to buy one.

Our beginners are using this set to introduce them to calligraphy. Like anything, the success of a product will depend on the skill of the users and how much practice they are able to give to the skill.

Would not buy again nor recommend. Ink pen nib only works upside down and is not consistent. Tried different paper to see if maybe it was the drag, but it's definitely poor nibs.

Two of my granddaughters are into calligraphy, so gave them these for Christmas & they love them.
