James Allen is a classic writer in Self-Help literature and this book is a TREASURE of wisdom. Since I've read "As a Man Thinketh" my life HAS changed for the better as I understood the point being made: my life is a mirror image of my inner self. It's not enough to just wish a better life - I need to strive for it in my heart, in my mind - change and mold my inner world and these changes in me will reflect in my outer world. Balance - without it, one is doomed to suffering. We have to re-align ourselves with our dreams and go for it - life is short, can't wait for things to get better, can't afford the excuses for procrastination we are all guilty of. The point in your life is not merely to know yourself but to make a better you, what you envision as an ideal you. As a society we've been mislead to believe that our salvation is in the hands of some higher authority - it was a creation of a slave mindset, one of dependency and thus of weakness, impotency. But we are not if we take the charge and assume the responsibility for our own selves. We have the beauty and the power within us as well as the ugly and the weak - the only difference is where your faith lies, you become what you choose. Our society is sick because we are sick. It's directly proportional. The poor state of affairs in the world is just a reflection of us en mass, the waste of the vanity we are guilty of. The world is going to change for the better when we ourselves are going to choose to grow into better beings, there's no other way. Choose your destiny. Jump-start your life. Evolve. Change the world.P.S. I believe, we live in revolutionary times - there's a mass awakening taking place. I don't know if we are going to repeat the history (as we've done it so many times) but I know that if we learn to conquer our fears and understand the forces of nature in and out of ourselves, we'll be able to build a better living for us all. Good and Bad forces are within us all, they complement each other and give a meaning to each other - one is meaningless without the other. Two magnetic poles, two opposing sides creating the motion of time, the vortex of life. Perfectly captured in the Eastern philosophical symbol of Yin-Yan: duality, balance, inclusivity, attraction, perpetual motion, infinity, repetition.

There is so much wisdom contained within this book it's ridiculous. James Allen in my opinion is one of the greatest thinkers of all time, and this book proves it. I own both the kindle and physical copies, but actually prefer the kindle because of the great bookmarking, highlighting, and syncing functionality. If you find a passage particularly inspiring, which will happen often while reading this book, you can just highlight it and revisit it later.I can not stress enough how amazing this book is, if I had to choose between this and my bible, it would be a hard choice but this book definitely win out because of the practical wisdom it contains. You can immediately apply the lessons in this book to your life and see your life and outlook change rapidly before your eyes. Once you've come to another "higher" plane of existence you can revisit the passages and they will take on an entirely new meaning depending on your state at any given time.

I purchased this for my husband and he loves this book. Prayerfully this will help to shape his mind in such a way that ushers in true transformation vs behavior modification. He continues to rave about this book and I am noticing a slight change in his thinking since diving in.

First read as a man thinketh and was hesitant to buy this big of a book but it has proven to be more than I could ever imagine. I will forever look back on these writings and my readings of them as a pinnacle point in my life that I am forever grateful for. I frequently look back on all my underlines and find peace and refuge, confirmations of the beauties of life and the worthiness of pursing them.

James Allen is a human treasure. His writings are wonderful and still relevant a hundred+ years later. So happy to have his writings in one book. But the publisher chose to put it in an enormous volume. Like, this thing is HUGE and unwieldy. Not one person who has ever read a book in their life designed this thing. I've no idea why it was done this way, but I supposed I should be happy with the workout I'm gonna get reading this thing.Note to publisher: Please, for the love of all that is holy, reprint this book in a binding that actual human hands can handle. If a Bible with 1200 pages can be half the size of this 880 book, that's not normal.

James Allen never disappoints a good books to read. Golden wisdoms and he is my favorite author. I would recommend reading his books to all.
An Inspiring Book That Rings True Throughout the Ages
As another reviewer has stated, this book is truly a treasury, in every sense of the word. I have only just purchased and started reading this book, but I feel compelled to write this review even without finishing it because I can already say it is a gem and a crown jewel which should be read by everyone. Having gone through personal strife himself, and since then pursued all throughout his life that path of deep understanding and knowledge, I can honestly say that James Allen has truly achieved something special here. A deeply profound and inspiring read; every word, every sentence holds immense weight and thought-provoking ideas. It will change your life, and your outlook on life and all its various thorny issues, forever. This book tackles every aspect of life that may be worrying you, written in James Allen's very inspiring flowing way, it gives hope to the down-trodden and faith to those who are seeking a deeper meaning to their lives and what purpose they serve in the world and in relation to each other. If you are of the faithful kind, it will deepen your faith. I may add to this review in the upcoming months as I read more. But one thing I can say for sure is that you MUST purchase this inspiring book, read and digest it, read it everyday, read it to your family, your friends, your children, your co-workers.....everyone should read this book!

James Allen is considered to be the forerunner of all modern self-help motivators.This is the second time I am buying this book. The first time I bought during the year 2011. Since several pages got tear out I am buying this again.1. This book is bound to create a psychological effect in your attitude if you read with interest and attention.2. I challenge that certain points expressed in this classic work cannot be found in any other works.3. For example in the short work " The mastery of destiny he has lucidly explained about the four levels of concentration.4. In his classical work " As a man thinketh" he has mentioned that we have the power to change our circumstances by changing our attitude.5. Our father of nation Mahatma Gandhi has been influenced by James Allen's literature.6. I request every peace finding soul to have this collection of master piece

My all time 'go to' book. Relevant forever. Sustenance for the soul.Beautiful book filled with tremendous knowledge on how to lead a wonderful existence within as well as.... doing your outward duties. Simply sublime. Words are not enough. Have to experience it for yourself. Touches the very core of our being stripping away the ego that dominates our thinking.Like James Allen said....As a man thinketh. My father got us one when we were little. Loved it then.....love it now.James Allen's experience, wisdom, spiritual knowledge is a must if you want to make great strides in your life. Try it sincerely and see the beautiful changes within you and your outward life. Do not wish for a better existence...make it happen as YOU are in charge. Read it again and again and you will find more depth as you go along.Thank the Universe..God...The powers that be for the likes of James Allen. My sincere gratitude to the remarkable people who put this book together for our benefit.Going to Spain next week for two weeks.
