This one was given to our 3 year old granddaughter. It has nice illustrations and is a fun book to share, especially with our love of camp outs and s’mores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great camping book for wide age group

This is a great book to take along while camping. The amount of information it contains makes it excellent for elementary and beyond (I am interested as an adult). But it is also great for toddlers learning letters (opportunity to identify the capital and lower case letter on every page). It is definitely a grows with you type book, as you can go into as much detail as your kids are ready for. Illustrations are excellent.

I bought this for my baby’s first birthday guest book. “It’s S’more fun to be one!” It was the perfect book for people to sign! A lot of guests wrote their name on the alphabet page of their name and it was so cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can Grow With Child

Really impressed with this book. Normally I don’t really like alphabet books because there’s not a real story and it can feel forced, but I adore how this book includes so much information and gives you the opportunity to learn more on the topic if you choose. It feels like a book that can grow with a child - simple at first and then you can read the more in-depth text as they get older. Really great and unexpected!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better for older kids

We bought this for our 4 year old son, and I think its just a bit too old for him. Its a great descriptive book but it does have a lot of words. The illustrations are great and it does do a great job of describing all things camping/hiking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!

W.M. · May 28, 2020

I read reviews and because a couple were negative I almost didn’t buy this book . I am so glad I ignored them. The illustrations are beautiful and the alphabet rhymes are great. I love that the words are new words for kids other than the typical a is for apple, b is for ball! It expands their vocabulary and mind!! Like others said, it is also a book that grows with children so as they get older they can learn even more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift For The Little Campers

Very nicely written and informative information for the young camper. Great way for learning more about the outdoors.Love the soft feel of the pages and the graphics.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fabulous book!

I had a hard time putting this book down. While the camping information was interesting - the illustrations stole the show for me. So bright and colorful - you felt as if you were part of the camping family. This book makes you wish you could go camping right this very minute. Hopefully it will inspire people, both young and old, to leave their electronics in the car, and savor the sights and sounds of nature, up close and personal, as it moves through the seasons.

I was extremely disappointed in this book

J.W. · September 12, 2015

I was extremely disappointed in this book! For starters, the alphabet pages are out of order, which is completely unacceptable in an alphabet book. Next, the writing is complex and unsuitable for a child in the age bracket for which one would typically buy an alphabet book. Then, not every page shows clearly which letter it represents. Finally, some of the choices for what word(s) represent a letter are rather strange e.g. A man's name for the letter "J." All of these are plenty of reasons not to buy this book!
