Forget those kitchen design magazines, this is the only book you need. With great photos, this volume goes through all the choices you'll have to make, starting with the layout to every little detail. Terrific book at a great price. When I finished my kitchen I gave it to my friend for her renovation next year. Do not hesitate. Buy this one.

This book was helpful for some things but it tended to show a lot of modern looking kitchens. I like country style and it didn't give me a lot of help there. If your interested in more modern style kitchens, this is the book for you.

This is not a "How-to" book. And that's OK. I bought it to get ideas for modernizing a tired, old kitchen.Unfortunately, most of the kitchens in the book are not very realistic for anyone who wants to spend time doing actual food prep and cooking. One beautiful kitchen - with granite, stainless steel appliances and acres of custom-built cabinets with high end carving and other architectural details - had almost zero usable counter space. Another featured a counter top dining area with so little leg room under the counter, a diner would wind up having to lean all the way forward just reach the food.Most of the kitchens were huge with mega-sized fridges and stoves, not to mention islands large enough to land a helicopter. If you have the that much space, enough money for all the customization, and someone else to do the cooking and cope with the lack of usable space, then maybe some of these show case kitchens would appeal to you.If you have an apartment or a smaller house and a tight budget, this book isn't the best way to spend your money.Ironically, I got some of my best kitchen remodel ideas by going to realtor sites and looking at photos of the kitchens in homes for sale - especially in houses of about the same size and design concept as my own.

Its like a glossy magazine of idea with no real substance. If you are going to remodel or redesign your kitchen this is not the book for you.
