Brilliant book of the 🐐 s of design!

3.0 out of 5 stars Black and White

G.H. · November 6, 2018

The first thing I noticed when I opened the book was all of the photography was in black and white. This made me wish that I have waited for the reviews to decide to buy the book, even though I got a discount for pre-ordering. I was expecting a more Kinfolk aesthetic with neutral-colored photography. Besides that, the writing language is okay as okay can be. I'm having a hard time just reading through each figure's stories with a lack of depth to their personality and images of their work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful

I love the exuberance of the art and fashion world and often wonder about the lives of those who work in these industries. This book highlights some of the most successful Creative Directors in the fields of fashion, entertainment and publishing. I enjoyed reading about their aesthetics and work philosophies. I'm not sure why other reviewers did not enjoy the book. I thought it was educational and rather enjoyed! It is like a lunch and learn with leading Creative Directors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed

V. · March 14, 2019

I was hoping that the bright red was a book cover, so I could remove it, but it isn’t. I was going to have this as a cofffee table book but my living room palette is neutral, and your eye draws directly to it when entering. The overall quality of the book isn’t that great, and all the photography is black and white, so reading it is a bit of a bore—I lost interest quickly. If you’re into aesthetics and visuals, pass on this one.

It is an inspirational book to have if you are a creative, it just paints a human face on many of the top creative art directors in the world. A book of 'Mentors'. It is easy reading. I just read about a different person whenever I have a moment. Most are interviewed for the book.
