This is the first book in this series from William Collins and it is a fantastic read. Full of adventures with great storytelling from the author! I felt like I was right there in the wilderness with them! Great read and highly recommend Wilderness Challenge and also Freedom's Challenge which is the second book in this series.

William Collins hit the nail on the head with this one. It's an excellent story about a man who just can't stand society anymore. He sells everything he owns and moves to the real wilderness to live by his wits, and a hand full of knowledge gained through some survival classes. Sound like a dream come true? Well then, you will adore this book. Mr. Collins keeps the narrative tight and concise, unlike some authors who spend three pages getting a character out of bed and showered. This story gets to the point and draws you in immediately, yet still allows for plenty of character development. I can't wait to read the next installment: "Freedom's Challenge".

I first became aware of Mr. Collins after seeing his knife-related videos on YouTube. Searching his website, I saw the link to authored books, downloaded them all, and read this one in a single sitting. I really enjoyed the balance of wilderness survival education and story line. And I am ok with this story not having a deep, complicated plot. Some of the time it’s ok to leave that tension and stress behind to just experience something a little more like some of Louis L’Amour’s books. Good job WC.

One of the most enjoy books I have read in a while, keeps your interest and moves along quickly. Would love to see a series featuring this character and his adventures.

Wow! I ordered this book for my library and then forgot about it until 2 days ago. I started reading it and had no idea what was in store for me. I could not put it down. John Cameron is my fantasy character, someone and something I have dreamed about. Becoming a "mountain man". I have read a lot of westerns that have characters like John. It was har to put this book down once I stared reading it. I had to know what was going to happen in the next chapter. A very well written book set in today's time about what I think is a loss era bought back to life by William Collins, a knife maker from east Texas, and a great storyteller. I just order the follow up, freedom challenge.This is not only about the man but incorporates much about what you will need to survive in the wilderness. Very well written mr. Collins.

I got this book and within three days and read it. If you like the outdoors and enjoy the idea of having your own little cabin in the woods you'll love this book! I strongly suggest this book! Im looking forward to reading more books by Mr. Collins because of how much I loved this book! You won't be disappointed with this book its an absolute GRANDSLAM!!!!
