Frederick wrote an excellent book that anyone owning a or working at a digital marketing agency should read.Because we are all aware that AI or machine learning is gradually taking over a lot of the (basic repetitive) work we've been doing for years and are wondering how to adapt our business models. AI also analyses big data much faster than any human can. When well coded it detects problems, challenges and opportunities faster and more efficiently than we humans can.A lot of digital marketers might be technically very savvy, but they don't know enough about basic marketing, branding, brand identity, communication strategy, positioning etc... And a brand needs all of this in order to be successful.Only using data to guide one's decisions (as AI does) or not using data sufficiently (as traditional marketing does) is a hemiplegic approach.Frederick's book indicates the journey every digital agency should set upon. Which ironically is based on knowledge found in good old fashioned traditional marketing and sales.

Digital marketing is a world full of fake "gurus", but Frederick Vallaeys is one who knows what he's talking about and I always read his articles avidly. I'm many years doing PPC and still with lots to learn. "Digital Marketing in an AI World" is quite simply a must read if you are in this business and want to stay at the forefront. Heck, I gave it four stars and that's pretty good for me!I have one question I didn't get answered and one area I'm still unsure about.The question I didn't get answered was this. What happens if three competing businesses employ PPC managers of similar skills who all turn on Google's automated bidding for their main campaigns? Does this lead to a robot bidding war, increasing click prices and leaving Google the only winner?And the area I still have doubts about is the current efficacy of machine learning in PPC (and, frankly, elsewhere). Frederick is far more of a True Believer here than I am. I've tested Google's automated bidding many times, I really want it to work, but I have mostly been disappointed. A typical experience is: turn it on, wait a month for the system to learn, watch it perform for three months at the same level where I already had things, then go into a decline necessitating that I put it back on manual to fix it.Nevertheless, Machine Learning is still, well, learning. I expect this all to get much better in time. I expect Frederick's book to increase in accuracy the longer he keeps it in print. Smart! And, like I said, if you are in the business then you need to read it.

The book itself contains amazing info for any PPC person but the author should really hire a copywriter next time. The book is really poorly written at times and sometimes hard to read because of it. (I found this statement to be particularly true during first few chapters. It somehow gets better half way through!)

This is a good book to read with loads of facts about the digital market and how it and AI have grown over the years. The author does have an agenda though which is to advertise/sell his own company services. That aside, it's worth a read and considering he's offering his knowledge for just 99p, you can't blame him for trying to get something back for his efforts.
