5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Audio Book Form

A genuinely entertaining popcorn read without any heavy, overtly sinister characters. The light buoyant plot completely keeps one guessing until the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like the way it is written,

Main characters, Lion him and lamb ,her detectives, working together and both work differently, when they interview a person they tape it with them not knowing and then we here what was going on, wish I could explain this better so read this book and you'll know , written for all to read, many interesting characters in this story looking forward for another book with them in it. Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars WHO KILLED THE QUARTERBACK

P. · August 17, 2023

This was a very interesting story. It's written in a different format, not the normal storyline, that actually works perfectly! There are a lot of factors to consider, a lot of suspects. Lamb is a hoot- funny, serious, very capable! Lion is the more serious. They are great together! I truly hope there's a second book for these two as I just didn't want the story to end! Well written and a very enjoyable read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting premise that fizzles out at the end

K.M.M. · October 8, 2023

Great premise: two PIs one for the prosecution, the other working for defense. Sensational murder. Great cast of suspects and side characters. Enjoyed 3rd person narrative interspersed with memos, transcriptions and the 1st party narrative of both Lamb and Lion. The narrative was fast paced. Action was interspersed with pithy observations. The revelations of nefarious characters was well done.Disappointments: 1) There was no snappy dialogue between Lion and Lamb. Lamb’s dog, Lupe, was merely window dressing to show that Lamb is eccentric. 2) The main characters spent a lot of time drinking, then drinking more and commenting on how they drank to much. Nor did they ever sleep much. And they commented on that. Hard to believe the two together could result in the physical confrontations throughout the novel. 3) the ending was melodramatic and unsatisfying. Disappointed. If this becomes a series, I would have to see sharper dialogue between Lamb and Lion, a serious purpose for exposing the perpetrator and an edge of sorrow overlaying all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lion and Lamb Awesome book it’s Rocks

Interesting book about the Super Bowl because it was the Philadelphia eagles and this season was the eagles as well but their quarterback is fine and healthy and loin and lamb don’t have to find out who killed him Thanks for an amazing book and James is an amazing author

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Mystery, Lots of Suspense and Humorous Banter

V.W. · March 14, 2024

Lion and Lamb are both investigators, one working for the DA and the other for the defense team when a pro NFL player is killed. The plot is fast-paced, twisted and entertaining. The characters are quirky and mostly believable. My favorite characters were the secondary ones named Jane and Victor who did the investigating for Cooper and Veena. They were wicked smart and on top of the whole investigation. I enjoyed the twists although I did not think the ending was totally believable. But it is good fiction.I checked out a copy of this book from my local library on the Libby App. All opinions expressed are my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining And That’s Good Enough

J.K.C. · September 21, 2023

This is a James Patterson collaboration. So we have short chapters. Mostly short declarative sentences. And plenty of action. The book is totally implausible. The plot does not, under any set of circumstances, resemble a homicide investigation. But, none of that matters. The characters are likable. There are two major mysteries to be solved. Our heroes are two private detectives working opposite sides of a very high profile murder case (each with an assistant who hacks/ tricks their way into every imaginable data bank, computer, and smart watch). There are some nice descriptions of Philadelphia. And the book is just great fun. That’s it. Sometimes, even a grumpy old retired prosecutor like me enjoys reading a book that’s just great fun. This is one of those books. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thriller AND a Travelogue

R. · October 5, 2023

Patterson keeps you guessing until the very end who the killer was. As usual, I guessed wrong. There is excellent interplay between Lion and Lamb, extremely amusing. But my favorite memory that I will have is enjoying the mention of iconic Philadelphia locations sprinkled through hundreds of pages. I have visited the City of Brotherly Love numerous times and this made the story special. Patterson did the same thing in “The Chef”, only with New Orleans, another of my favorite destinations. Well played, James.

An excellent read!

R.A.C. · December 24, 2023

Typical of all James Patterson books this is a must read. I highly recommend it!

A different style but entertaining and interesting

D.T.P. · August 27, 2023

Lion & Lamb is about two PIs trying to solve a murder (or more than one). The narrative bounces around from each, with interspersed chapters of transcripts, train-of-conscious thoughts, and more. If you expect a typical Patterson style, you will not find it here. It takes a few chapters to get used to the new approach, but then it's easy to follow. And, quite honestly, a nice change. The story is good, the "next chapter" drive is there, and I read the book in one long sitting, enjoying it throughout. I hope there's more to come like this!

Klassischer Kriminalroman mit Format

D.Z. · April 21, 2024

A cliffhanger

James Patterson knows how to capture his reader. Good read as always, with a nice little twist as to who the murder is.
