Such a great book and easy to read and understand. I’m currently enrolled in a psych masters program and this book has helped immensely with understanding and diagnosing mental health disorders. Has great pictures, metaphors, and pneumonics to help memorize things.

I’m a pmhnp student, and this little book was recommended from another pmhnp student further along in clinical rotation. I love this book! I just received it yesterday, and it’s so easy to read. Love how the author is very unedited and accurate. This book is not only a great refresher, it really helps me apply the art of prescribing. I also enjoy the catchy mnemonics as well to remember important side effects, drug classes, and other pertinent information. Great buy!

Purchased this to supplement a course I was teaching. It provided a good level of detail for the graduate student in human services (counseling, social work, psychology) who needs a quick but quality survey of psychopharmacology. There are also review questions to help with learning. The book itself feels very print-on-demand, with a font that is a little bit dated, but none of that detracted from the usefulness of the book.

I am a psychiatrist who teaches physician assistant students. This book is hands down the best one out there for teaching psychopharmacology. The reading is interesting, provides the perfect level of detail (*everything* you need to know, without getting bogged down with unnecessary detail), and the mnemonics for just about every drug are extremely time-saving (i.e. you don't have to come up with your own mnemonics when studying!) I strongly recommend this. Lastly, it was published in 2017 so it is extremely up to date (unlike the texts I used in my own psychiatry residency program, which have not been updated since 2008!) Thank you, Dr. Heldt, for making my teaching job so much easier!

I was surprised at how readable this book actually is. It does not go deep into the medications, but gives a good overview of what the most important points are. Some of the mnemonics are a heck of a stretch, and I don't think that all of them are helpful, but overall, it is a good book, and I recommend it.

I absolutely love this book! Heldt truly does a wonderful job making this subject interesting & memorable. I’m not a weirdo, but I couldn’t put the book down. He made the material so interesting to read. And so easy to understand and digest. I highly recommend!!

I'm a grad student who returned to school after a lengthy gap. Of course there have been many changes in psychopharm in the last 30 years and this book along with the YouTube videos were instrumental in committing the drug names to memory and understanding all of the side effects all in one place. Very organized, simple, and straight-forward. Highly recommended.

A fun, easy to read book that serves as a great starting point for anyone looking to learn more about psychopharmacology. It would be especially helpful for nurses and clinicians interested in psychiatry.Read this before you graduate to Maudsley's prescribing guidelines and Stahl's psychopharmacology.
