5.0 out of 5 stars I love robotics
I love technology a lot and robotics is one of it. I know now how robots are made of, through this book. Also, I have come to know different types of robot. It also consists of tutorial about programming which is really impressive. Even though I can not afford to buy a robot sooner or later, I appreciate all facts about robots. I only notice about this book has no page guide on table of content, which consumes more time to find a page, where you stop than, those that already have page numbers on table of content. Cover page is good, looks simple and really related to the content of the book. I have a nephew who loves robot so I am thinking about giving him this book's copy in order for him to have a basic knowledge in robotics. Another good book here on Bolo. Two thumbs up!
4.0 out of 5 stars Well written and easy to understand.
I was very happy to find this book when I decided to undertake a robotics project with my children. This is a book ideal for someone who really needs a step-by-step for each component, with a full explanation of what it is, how to read the markings, how to test it, how to install it and so forth. The book does a great job of pacing the material and explaining things so that a beginner can understand. It goes through the parts and components you will need to be able to understand and identify in order to be able to build a robot then walks you through step by step on how to build your first line following robot. The author also does a great job of giving the reader information on tools and components as well as providing good information on how/where to obtain parts. I am proud to say we managed to build our own version of sandwitch and it works perfectly. This book is excellent for beginners in robot building and in understanding the basics of robotics.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! I enjoyed and got a lot of knowledge in robotics!
I am not that very knowledgeable when it comes to robots but I am interested to know about them. And this one gave a lot of information and knowledge about robots and robotics. In our present world robots and robotics has a big impact in our daily life and they help us a lot in so many ways that they are making our life easier and more comfortable. For someone who wants to start with robots and robotics, this is a complete guide to start with as this gives you all the basic things you need to know and understand about robots and robotics.
1.0 out of 5 stars Won't even get you close to expert
First, the initial impression is pretty poor. When you get past the title page you get a two page copyright notice that looks to be in about 17 point font, almost like it is yelling at you. This is of course in contrast to most books where the copyright bit is no more than half of one page as it is in more like 9 or 10 point.Turns out the entire book is in this oversized font (like a student trying to meet the required number of pages for a paper by bumping up the font. The overly large font means that the couple places where there is code shown it is so horribly formatted it is basically impossible to follow. It also affects at least one table that is so spread out you can barely make sense of it.There are no images at all in the entire book, not when talking about various kinds of components used in building robots, not when talking about circuit schematics, not when presenting a tutorial of how to build a couple simple robots, not anywhere.Adding some images could have allowed the font size to be dropped to a normal size while still having a fair number of pages…It talks about the various types of motors at least twice covering the same basic info each time.It really needed an editor or for the author to make an editing pass prior to publishing. While it mentions a couple other options for controlling a robot it really just covers RoboCore, which seems to not even exist anymore. The original KickStarter page has a link to the website that now leads to a different robotics company called Husarion. (At least that company makes reference to ROS which is completely lacking in this book.)Bottom line, I suffered through to page 89 before putting it on the shelf never to be picked up again as anything other than an example of how to to publish a book (I have another self published book from the same company, different author that has reasonable font sizes, images where useful, and much stronger content on mobile architecture)
3.0 out of 5 stars I'm giving it a three star rating because it was a good starting point for my interest in the subject
"Everything You Need to Know About Robotics" was not everything I needed to know about robotics. I'm giving it a three star rating because it was a good starting point for my interest in the subject. However, in this book the author recommends several other books to read to learn certain aspects that are not covered in this one. That alone renders this book "Basic Things You Need to Know About Robotics". It is nice reading and gaining a better understanding of robotics, but my disappointment lies in the unanswered questions this book leaves the reader with.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!!
The book is a great read and a guide if interested in the robotics science. I really wanted to learn more about robotics and that's why I purchased this book. The content is fantastic, systematically organized and easily applicable. Designing and making a robot is quite difficult but this book really taught me a lot. I am fully satisfy with this book. I will keep this book for my future reference And I will definitely suggest this perfect book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Robots are not artificial intelligence
The robots currently present in this world preform tasks that are too dangerous, risky, boring and monotonous if preformed by a human. A human’s hands will never be as cutting-edge perfect as a robot’s movement. Did you know that the word robot comes from czech word forced labor, and were not intended to be machines, but created first by chemical means? Pretty interesting… Robots like robo cop, or other sci-fi characters are just sci-fi. The real robots of this world are designed to be controlled by humans.
El peor libro que he comprado.
Es un libro pésimo.
Not at all up to the mark
The book is not up to the mark. Very basic information given on just 236 pages in total that too in a larger font size leaving too much blank spaces. Seems that the author don't have enough information to share.
Doesn’t live up to its title
I should of read the reviews…I had high hopes for this book, but it felt like the content was hastily thrown together without much thought. The instructions on building robots were scattered and confusing, often jumping between steps without clear guidance. There was a lot of focus on minor details, yet the high-level concepts of robotics were only briefly brushed over, leaving me with more questions than answers. For the price, I expected much deeper insights and a more cohesive approach. Overall, it’s disappointing and not worth the cost if you’re looking for anything beyond the basics.
High-level Overview of Robotics
This book provides high-level information about robots design and their functions. Unfortunately, it rarely gives more information than could be found within a few minutes on Wikipedia. The font size is also very large.
