My daughter absolutely loves this book. She thinks the little girls one worded parts are hilarious. You can really animate while reading and make it fun for the kids. I always allow my daughter to say the “why” Parts and she dramatizes it so well lol!! Also the message Of the story is good too.

5.0 out of 5 stars So cute!!!! Why? Because it is!

M.C. · April 13, 2022

We were inspired to read more Adam Rex books since he visited our classroom via a virtual setting. He did mention that why was one of his favorite books. I bought it and read it to the kids and they enjoyed it. They were able to see how the character changed from the beginning of the book until the end of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not his favorite

I think I like this book more then my son. The illustrations are colorful and abstract in a way, but also really help to carry the story along. My son has read it a few times, but it's not at all his favorite. I'm hoping in a year or two he'll like it more. I like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book

My kids of all ages love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple premise done masterfully well!

C.N. · September 16, 2021

Bought for the funny, fell in love because of the sweet and meaningful message. Lots of ways to add open ended discussion with children but still has us crack up with every little why. My kids especially love when their dad does the evil scientist laugh!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as fun as Wonkey Donkey!

C. · September 24, 2022

I got this for my 6yo and I to read... my 11yo took one look and put it down. :( I was hoping this would be a fun and great experience read like the Wonkey Donkey (highly Recommend!!!) ... sadly it wasn't. It was written a little "too much" for my 6yo who loves books, to really understand why a little girl was basically asking a stranger why! She would say, "Stranger Danger!" really loud. It is def not a book about kids always asking why... like, "why is the sky blue?... but why?" You mommys and daddys know what I mean!!! Nor is it, "where to babies come from?...why?...but why?" It is a story about a little girl asking a man (who wanted to be a "superhero" basically about his life... and him giving these long, sometimes funny, sometimes hard to understand answers exp for a 6yr who no longer ask why!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story!

B. · May 24, 2021

This is such a cute story about a would-be super villain and an inquisitive little girl. I read it to my three year old son, and he just loves waiting for his turn to say the "why?" parts of the story. Very happy with this this book!

Divertido, bien ilustrado

G. · April 28, 2022

Don’t ask questions, just read this.

T.a.M. · October 19, 2019

Hilarious and well-written story. I shared it with my son’s class and as I read they all chimed with with the all-important question: why? When I left the room, I heard all the kids questioning everything the teacher said. My work there was done. (Fear not: his teacher adored the story too).
