OK, I admit it. I am a Log Cabin fan, so am always on the look-out for different ways of using the Log Cabin technique. Shizuko Kuroha's re-interpretations of the Log Cabin pattern are creative, intriguing, and worth the learning curve some of the projects will require. I am not as creative as the author, nor is is easy for me to picture the progression of each step of her instructions (or anyone's instructions, for that matter). But, the end results of the projects are so unique, I want to make the necessary effort to complete most of the projects in the book. The thorough construction instructions aren't as easy to follow as I require, but that's not the author's fault; that's due to my limitations. The photographs are excellent, and the construction drawings are precise, clear, and well-labeled. The author enjoys vintage fabric, primarily indigo, with which I am not the least bit familiar. Many of the pictured projects use that fabric, which I found educational and interesting, but in no way limiting. I look at her projects and picture them using my favorite fabrics. This book offers a versatility of the Log Cabin design I never imagined, but will somehow master.

I love Log Cabin blocks....the more different kinds, the more I love them. I am always on the look out for new ideas.My box of fabric strips continues to go, so I can continue to make more and more of the fun blocks, in all different shapes and configurations.

Aim for intermediate quilters, more pictures would be helpful if less skilled.Very cleaver and unique ideas. Enjoyed this book a great deal.

Love this book and find it continuously inspiring to be creative. I haven't used the patterns as is, but have used them as guidelines for my own designs for small projects. My daughters and I are in discussion about which of the big quilts I should tackle first.

Quite a remarkable quilt pattern book. Most quilters realize that math skills ARE involved with quilting and the complicated designs while challenging, have good instructions - much like those in Judy Martin's Log Cabin Quilt Book. I'd have bought this book regardless as the designs are beautiful.
