“Kristen Wetherell has written a lovely little book that could grace any coffee table simply because it’s beautiful. But don’t be mistaken: This one belongs on the kitchen table where it’s at the ready to guide a family to bold petitions and beautiful praise. I think all parents need a copy of this book both for their own hearts and to teach their kids how to pray.”
―Dannah Gresh, Founder, True Girl; author, Lies Girls Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free
“This book is not a shallow collection of rote recited prayers; it is a treasure trove of the kind of spiritual insight and theological depth children crave. With its rhyming prayers, devotional content, and action steps, Teach Me to Pray masterfully offers guidance, instruction, and examples for our little ones. Each entry is rich, digestible, and carefully crafted to be accessible for young families. Whether used as a reference book of topical prayers, a bedtime read, or a resource for family devotional time, this book is one you want to shape your family and incline your hearts toward heaven.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
WOW!! What a fantastic resource!! Already considering buying a second one to keep in the car. My favorite part as a mom and teacher is the “Do Something About It” section. We read the one on worry this morning with one of our daughters and I have it with me to read to my Sunday school class the one on Influence.
5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely beautiful book!
An Absolute Treasure for Our Little Library!I am just so thrilled with this sweet little book.Teach Me to Pray is an absolute treasure! My little one is just getting the hang of the letters, so the "A to Z" format is simply brilliant. It's been the most wonderful tool for blending our reading practice with our nighttime prayers. Each page is just lovely! The illustrations are so gentle, soft, and inviting. My favorite part is that every single prayer concept is tied directly to a piece of God's Word. It's not just teaching prayers (though we love our traditional prayers, too!), it's teaching my little one how to form prayers using Scripture as the guide. We've been taking it one letter at a time, and it has sparked the sweetest, most thoughtful little conversations. It's become our new favorite to cuddle up with right before we say our Rosary intentions. It's just a beautiful, grace filled way to end the day.The quality of the book itself is absolutely lovely! It feels and looks like a high end book. It can be an heirloom piece.Truly one of the most purposeful and darling books we own. A perfect, five star addition to our family's prayer life!
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful hardcover book
This hardcover book is absolutely beautiful. The quality and aesthetic is even better than I'd hoped for. Each letter has two words chosen with poetic prayers and scripture plus study guide for older kids. For my little ones we just read the rhyming prayers, and the verse. Their attention span is still short. This book would make a very special gift to any mother who loves to read to her children and teach them biblical principles. 100% worth the cost and would highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Approach to Prayer
Using the alphabet as an approach, this beautiful book offers up prayer opportunities tied to single words. For example, A illustrates attitude. A model prayer is included requesting humility, followed by a scripture, thought paragraph, additional scriptures for study, and an action suggestion. Topics range widely and include friendship, nervousness, respect, and peer pressure. The book is aimed at young people, teens primarily I think, but a new Christian of any age or anyone seeking to learn more about how to pray will find it beneficial. The book has a presentation page, ribbon marker, and nice illustrations, making it gift quality. It could also be used as a basis for individual or group Bible study on prayer. Affordable as well.
2.0 out of 5 stars Very negative
This book is not one I would recommend getting for a young child. The prayers are all written from a very negative, sin-oriented perspective. Most of the topics are negative (envy, peer pressure, mistakes, quarreling) and even the positive ones all have a tone of repenting for not showing kindness or justice or whatever. Religious environments that major in sin and minor in God's love and grace don't generally result in children remaining in the faith in adulthood.
4.0 out of 5 stars Whispers of Wonder Between the Letters
This one wraps prayer in alphabet ribbons and hands it over with quiet grace. It’s built for younger minds but doesn’t talk down—instead, it meets them where they are, with rhymes that stick and verses that anchor. Each letter opens a door to something real—anger, joy, fear, gratitude—and doesn’t flinch from the messy parts. The structure is clever: A to Z means no topic gets left behind, and flipping to “G” for gossip or “H” for healing feels like finding a secret map. There’s no rush, no pressure—just a steady rhythm of words that invite, not demand. What stands out is how it blends story, scripture, and silence. Every entry starts with a memory verse, then a short thought that doesn’t overexplain, followed by a prayer that sounds like something a kid might actually say. The follow up verses aren’t just tacked on—they’re chosen to deepen, not distract. And the questions at the end? They’re not quizzes. They’re gentle nudges to think, to feel, to wonder. It’s not about getting it right. It’s about showing up, word by word. The layout is clean but never cold. The illustrations don’t shout—they hum. Butterflies, lanterns, paper boats, a church steeple, a watering can—each image feels like a quiet companion, not a decoration. The font is easy on the eyes, the spacing gives room to breathe. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t need to be read front to back. Open it anywhere, and it still makes sense. Perfect for a quick moment before bed or a slow Sunday morning. No setup needed. No tools required. Just turn a page, and you’re in.Now, here’s the thing—it’s not magic. It won’t fix hard days or erase big feelings. And if you’re expecting a quick fix or a list of perfect prayers to recite by heart, this isn’t that. It’s slower. Deeper. It asks for attention, not just action. Some might wish for more structure, more rules, more “how to.” But that’s not the point. The point is connection. It’s about building something that lasts, one letter, one prayer, one honest word at a time. All in all, this one does what it sets out to do—gently, steadily, beautifully. It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t rush. It just opens the door and says, “Come in. You’re welcome here.” And that’s worth more than any checklist ever could.
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful
This book is fantastic, and it has far exceeded my expectations. The book covers several topics that, at some point in our lives, affect us all. Topics such as anger, respect, fear, friendship, parents, and more. Each lesson has a prayer, followed by a read about it section focusing on a Bible verse. Then, a 'Think About It' section and a 'Learn About It' section with three Bible verses you look up. Finally, a ‘Do Something About It’ section asking you to write, confess, reflect inward, etc. This book is a powerful tool to help guide you through God's word, improving your life and relationships. Ideal for around middle school and up.
