Wayne Grudem (PhD, University of Cambridge) is Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the author of more than twenty-five books, including Bible Doctrine and Christian Beliefs.
J. I. Packer (1926–2020) served as the Board of Governors’ Professor of Theology at Regent College. He authored numerous books, including the classic bestseller Knowing God. Packer also served as general editor for the English Standard Version Bible and as theological editor for the ESV Study Bible.
Mark Dever (PhD, Cambridge University) is the senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC, and president of 9Marks (9Marks.org). Dever has authored over a dozen books and speaks at conferences nationwide. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife, Connie, and they have two adult children.
Dennis E. Johnson (PhD, Fuller Theological Seminary) is professor emeritus of practical theology at Westminster Seminary California and assistant pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Tennessee. He is the author of several books and contributed to the ESV Study Bible and the ESV Expository Commentary. Dennis and his wife, Jane, live in Dayton and have four children and sixteen grandchildren.

This Bible has all the features I was looking for! The text size is a little small, but that’s a small trade off for having a study Bible that also includes a 2” ruled margin. I have found that the Mr. pen fine liners work best on these to minimize bleed through or ghosting. There are plenty of pages in the back that work great for testing pens. I like the inclusion of book summaries at the beginning of each book, as it helps you to see the context of the book before you read it—also the illustrations and maps within the relevant pages so you don’t have to flip back and forth from the back of the Bible. The imitation leather cover is very soft and it makes the Bible lay flat when you open it.

This review is for the Two Tone / TruTone ESV Journaling Study Bible. This particular Bible I did return due to it not being brand new and already had some marking in it. Still the few days I had it I was able to determine that the soft leather cover was not firm enough for me. If your intent is to use it laying flat on a desk or table then you probably won't have any issues. Attempting to use it while in my hand the pages were bending too much for me and I would not consider trying to write in it like that. This is a personal taste so the end user will have to determine what they like. I did order the Black Hard Cover edition and have been happy with that. As for the content. There are enough reviews and YouTube videos out there for you to get a good idea of what the contents look like and how it compares to others, but let me add a few tidbits. Yes the main type face is readable, but the study notes and especially the cross references are potentially too small. I personally would love a large print version of this Bible. Increasing the typeface and number of pages would not negatively impact this Bible. The study notes are taken from the ESV Student Bible. I've not seen that in any review, but in the introduction material in the Bible it does state that is where the notes come from. So in essence you get a ESV Student Bible with space for notes. I do like the hard board slip case if you want to use it especially for the TruTone version. For me this is a great balance between having a Bible with enough notes to get started and enough space to add notes.

This is the best Bible I have ever owned. I have tried other Bibles numerous times and either just put them away or tried something different. I was super hesitant to purchase another Bible in fear that it was not going to meet my needs again.I love the leather cover on this Bible. I love the size of the font. It’s not too small for my old eyes lol. The study components are a game changer for me! And the margins on the sides for journaling are absolutely perfect! I can’t recommend this Bible enough.

Great bible! Text is a little small but not too bad! I love the journaling margins on the side and the study bible portion that breaks it all down. The bible is very flimsy as the cover does not give much support, definitely recommend a case. Pages are pretty thin (which is typical of a bible) but these do seem to crease easier. Overall, pretty pleased and I know it will be a great addition to bible study!

The Bible is soft sided- like leather. It comes in a side-open box for shelf storage. I really appreciate the box. It's easy to pull the Bible out to read, while keeping it safe otherwise. I like the journaling part. It's lined for easy use. There are also some blank pages at the front and a page fof identification. The Bible I purchased was 2 columned but there are single column versions. The only thing I didn't consider was the print size, but magnifiers are available. I purchased ESV version but other translations are available. I chose ESV after researching translations. I used NIV before. (The Blue Letter Bible app allows side by side comparison.)I'm really happy with my purchase.

Die ESV Study Bible ist schon seit Längerem eine zuverlässige Studienbibel. Sie bietet ausführliche Kommentare aus reformiert-theologischer Perspektive, äußerst hilfreiche Karten sowie gut geschriebene Einleitungen und Artikel.Die Journaling Bible-Version hebt das Bibelstudium auf ein noch höheres Niveau. Dank der breiten Ränder gibt es ausreichend Platz für eigene Notizen. Die Hilfslinien sorgen zudem dafür, dass die Notizen ordentlich und sauber geschrieben sind.Ich hatte diese Bibel auch in der Lederausführung für meine Frau gekauft, wollte für mich selbst jedoch eine günstigere Variante. Nachdem ich zunächst die schwarze Hardcover-Version bestellt hatte, entschied ich mich schließlich doch für diese Trutone-Ausgabe mit flexiblem Einband, da sie langlebiger wirkt. Aus diesem Grund wird für dieses Modell auch eine lebenslange Garantie angeboten.Diese Trutone-Version fühlt sich robust an und sieht dabei sehr edel aus. Ich bin wirklich sehr zufrieden damit!

An awesome reference book
Each book begins with a clear introduction of where it is based, who wrote it, its meaning and other information. It really is a lot of information. The text is clear and easy to read and there is space on each page in the margins to make notes. This has been such a useful resource for me and has made studying and understanding the bible an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend if you want to deepen your understanding of the bible.
