Affordable, high-quality Bibles have become rather rare in recent years. Besides having issues with the quality of construction, they often come with manufacturing defects, such as torn or wrinkled pages and faded ink. I am thrilled to announce that this particular Bible from Crossway has solved these problems.This is not a large Bible, but neither is it a compact version. It is just the right size between the two extremes. The cover is of a quality that could easily pass for bonded leather; in fact, there is a small blemish on mine that makes it look even more like real leather, though I am sure that this was quite accidental. The gilding on the pages is bright, even, and without blemish. It comes with a single ribbon marker as well.The pages of this Bible are thin, but the print is even and sharp throughout the book. The line-matching format goes a long way toward reducing the distracting effects of bleed-through of text on the opposite side of each page. The font is attractive and formal, but it might be a little small for people with less-than-healthy eyes. For those with normal vision or low-powered reading glasses, however, it should not be a problem.The translation itself is the ESV 2011 Text Edition, which is considered an accurate "essentially literal" translation that is ideal for serious biblical studies. It is, however, best suited for readers with a high reading comprehension level and an appreciation for fine literature; it is not an ideal translation for the very young, or for people who speak English as a second language, or for readers who want a more relaxed reading experience. For those who love fine poetry, the ESV is unequaled except, perhaps, by the KJV of 1611.If you are looking for an affordable, high-quality Bible with an equally high-quality translation, you cannot go wrong with this product. It is truly a cut above the rest within its price range and worthy of a five-star rating.

Pros: The size, the quality, the line matching, the footnotes and referencesCons: Can't really think of anySummary: This is a very well made, high quality Bible. The gilding is very nice, the pages are thin but tough (Bible paper is a marvel of engineering), the line matching really helps with the inevitable bleed through, the text is very clear and easy to read, and the overall look and feel is fantastic. No doubt this will hold up to years of use. If I had to nitpick, I'd point out that a lot of pages are stuck together initially (fixes itself as you read), and the cover will remain bent up after it's been opened.Now to address some issues pointed out in other reviews:Bleed through: Yes, it has bleed through, but they have done a remarkable job of preventing it from becoming a distraction. I have included two pics for your reference, one shows the bleed through without text in front, the second shows what full page text looks like. In the photos it is much more exaggerated than in real life. In actuality you don't really notice it once you start reading.Acts 8:37 is missing: It's not, it's included in the footnotes. Most of the earliest manuscripts do not include this verse, it showed up later. A little Google goes a long way!It's made in China: How wonderful! Not only does that keep the cost down, but it means God's Word is in China! Praise God for that!I'm happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone looking for a good sized, well made Bible.

I have searched a long time through the information surrounding bible translations and binding options. Although all translations are precious and sacred in various contexts, I settled on a combination of ESV as my main translation, and the NRSV for occasional checking.For me and my purposes, the ESV is the perfect translation (while not being perfect in and of itself it comes very close), and this particular bible is the size I was looking for. It's compact, but not small. It feels great in the hand, lies flat on a table when open (and this improves with use), it's sewn, the font is legible without being eccentric, the references are in the gutter (the inside of the pages) which means the bible text itself is always very visible. It's gilded on the page edges, and it's the 2011 version of the ESV.This is the perfect all around bible for me. I plan to get it rebound in brown pebble grain goatskin, with leather liners, and three gold marker ribbons. It is my wish that my personal bible becomes a kind of family heirloom, handed down to my grandchildren, inspiring them to build their lives on the principles it contains.And thus ends my long search for the perfect bible for me personally.

C'est une ESV classique, avec un texte sans référence. Le format de cette bible est bien pratique à transporter dans un sac, de plus la couverture est très agréable tant à la vue qu'au toucher. Le design reste cependant discret car il ne paraît pas être une bible.La police de caractère est de 8 points ce qui rend le texte facilement lisible.Le prix est très raisonnable.

Beautiful
This is a beautiful edition of the ESV Bible - bound in soft, brown leather. The format and layout is different to other Bibles I have (text format is in paragraphs across the page, rather than in columns), which seemed strange to me at first, but I have grown to really like it. The text size is ok and this version seems to have achieved a good balance between font size/size and weight of book. I love the way that each book of this Bible has an introduction and explanation - very helpful for a novice like me. My copy has travalled in my bag a fair bit over the last few weeks since I bought it and I am pleased to say it has stood up to my (sometimes) rough handling. This may sound a strange thing to say, but it feels lovely to hold as the cover is so soft and it is the type of leather that I could imagine will wear beautifully over the years. I am very pleased with this Bible, as it was exactly what I had been looking for; it has become one of my most treasured books already!

Great quality beautiful gift ESV Personal Reference Bible
The cover of this is such a beautiful quality. Feels like super soft leather and very pliable. Gold edging on the pages is also beautiful. The pages are initially all kind of stuck together at the edges by the gilding but they come apart very easily and without damage. Such a lovely, quality gift for a first time bible user to experience.
