What is currently listed as the paperback version is actually the premium leather version, as the price should be an indication. I own numerous Allan bibles and a couple of custom handcrafted bibles. I have a pretty good feel for what a quality bible is like. This Psalms is excellent. The leather cover has the look and feel of a good goatskin, whatever it is. The liner has the look and feel of a nice soft leather, both together resulting in a very supple cover. Well done. I really like that the pages are a more substantial type of paper which results in a thicker book, which is just fine by me. I am so impressed by Crossway. Of all the bible manufacturers they seem to be really listening to what we the customers want. Quality first and foremost. Finally, let me just say that this is a beautifully designed layout.Well done Crossway. I am impressed!

Excellent! Gave two as family Christmas gifts and had to buy one for myself after seeing. Page color, font size, line spacing and overall layout could not be more perfect! Makes for a very comfortable reading experience. Presentation is clear, well thought out and really helps me focus. They’ve absolutely nailed it!Leather cover looks great and feels very nice. It’s well made (surprisingly so at this price) but doesn’t quite give the same impression of durability as my Clarion (though page opaqueness is much better). Still seems very solid.Binding is a little stiff at first. I carefully applied a little pressure to small sections at a time and it’s already feeling better.EXCELLENT value! I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Highly recommend.

I love this book. It is a beautiful, volume that sits at my bedside. It is a pleasure to read. The paper is wonderful, the print is easy on the eyes. Every night I read 5 psalms (e.g., on the first of the month, I read Psalm 1, 31, 61, 91, and 121) and I am almost always eager to open this book. I have taken to reading them out loud, which provides a new experience. I suspect I will purchase more of these in the future as gifts for people. This is an excellent addition to Crossway's line. The only thing I don't quite understand is that at times, the left facing page is left blank and other times it is not. This is fairly common in books, but what is odd is that sometimes a new Psalm will start on that facing page, but sometimes it is left blank. It seems to me this was an editorial oversight, but this remains a 5 star purchase that people should consider buying!

I purchased the Top Grain Leather binding and I am very happy with this purchase.I feel that Crossway hit the mark, on what they set out to accomplish. If you are looking for a book of Psalms that is formatted to let you just focus on the Psalms...this is definitely the version for you. As far as the problems I read in other reviews, from a couple of years ago, they appear to have been fixed. However, the one about the gold print on the spine seems to still be an issue, as my copy was *slightly* off center, however, I am not one who reads the *spine*, so good for me. Everything else is excellent. In regard to value, for price paid($40), I feel this is a very good price point and would recommend this beautiful little Psalter to anyone.

I've never owned a Psalter before but having this edition has really changed my devotional time. I find myself engaged with the Psalms at a whole new level and I'm reading them daily now. The quality of this edition is really great, it's easy to read with large text and almost no bleed through. While it doesn't open flat -- probably due to the thickness of the paper, it has everything else and feels really good in your hand.I have a few high quality leather Bibles covered in goatskin that are very nice, this edition uses cow hide but the quality is surprisingly nice. The cover is very subtle and flexible and compares well to higher quality Bibles that I own. I would place it into the premium category along with the others.I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to enhance their morning devotionals with a reading from the Psalms.

What can I say? These are the Psalms, which are soothing and comforting and quite beautiful. It’s the word of God, which means everything to me.My husband bought this little book of Psalms for me a year ago and I read a Psalm a day from it. I love it so much that we bought it this Christmas for our daughter as a small extra present. Knowing her, I know she’ll love it as much as I do.It’s aesthetically lovely, well printed and designed, and beautifully bound. I’d give it more than five stars if that were available to me.

If you're in the market for an easy to carry psalms in ESV, then this is it. The layout is easy to read and the letter is top notch and soft from the get-go. If there is one request, I'd like to see this in a thin line version with typical, very thin Bible paper pages. The paper is fine, but a little thick and stiff in my opinion.

Beware of seller “general books & more” seller of offered no help or replacement. Pages were bound out of order. Bolo would not assist with replacement because it was outside of return window.

I am very pleased with this purchase. This nicely bound (leather) book of the Psalms is exactly what I had hoped it would be.It is easy to read and hold during private devotions and meditations.

[The Psalms ESV Top Grain Leather, Crossway, USA. £31.19, 1st of Nov. 2024, Solemnity of All Saints]. A handsome, well-made book of psalms. The book is bound in in a supple black 'top grain' leather with raised hubs along the spine. The binding has a modest yapp. The text block is sewn, has headbands, and a single black register. The page edges are white and not art guilded. A presentation page is provided at the front of the book. The binding apears to be edge-lined too, a technique that is a mark of a quality durable binding. The book comes in a sturdy clamshell box. I prefer to store the book & the box horizontally rather than vertically, otherwise the weight of the book rests on the botton edges and over time will cause minor damage and sagging. The paper is good quality and provides a reasonble balance between thickness and opacity. The paper's colour is slightly off white which makes the print easier to read, as does the amount of space around the text. Owing to the space provided by the layout there is no guttering of the text. The typeface is pretty decent and is clean, though older types offer more authority. The page headings are in a larger type and in brown, while the subheadings and the psalms themselves are in black ink. The psalms are presented without footnotes or commentary, there is a short introduction from the translation committee. The five books of the psalms are observed. While the ESV is not my favourite translation, though far from the worst (& certainly an improvement over the NJB/Grail Psalms which it replaces) it is now used by the RCC in England in its vernacular liturgy. At home I still prefer to use Miles Coverdale's Psalter for morning and evening readings, (cf. the incomparable Anglican BCP), but now and again I use the ESV versions instead. Overall recommended: great binding using quality paper, super page layout, & reasonably priced.

For quite a while now I've been thinking that I'd love a 'stand-alone' copy of the Psalms. If you're happy with the ESV (I am), then it's hard to imagine one more perfect than this.It has red ink for the titles and verse numbers, a large and clear black for the Psalms, and lots of white space allowing each psalm room to 'breath' on the page, and greatly aiding the readability.I also love it that each psalm starts on a new page.As a book, it's neither too rigid nor too 'floppy' It will lie flat (enough) on a desk or lectern. The leather is appealing both to the touch, the sight, and the smell! Mine now lives beside my bed so I can start and end the day with a Psalm or two.I honestly can't imagine anyone buying this and being disappointed. It's lovely. Highly recommended.

Beautiful soft leather, brilliantly smooth and opaque paper, with clear and elegant text. This is a real devotional treasure to help you delve into the psalms...no commentary, no fuss, just the inspired text. These words don't quite do justice to the beauty of this little book.
