5.0 out of 5 stars Best ESV-I've been waiting a long time for this!
I agree with the other reviewers. I've been waiting a long time for this Bible to be published with this font size. It's perfect-not uncomfortably large print (for me at least) like the previously published ESV large print Bible, but not too small either, like every other ESV Bible out there, for these 50 some year old eyes! The font is crisp and readable and there is almost no bleedthrough of the text, another great factor in readability. Yet the Bible is still very thin and portable. I purchased the Black genuine leather, and it's actually a very nice quality in my opinion-much better than most "genuine leather" Bibles out there. I don't love the words of Christ in red, but it's quite readable in this Bible. The Bible also lies mostly flat when opened, another important factor for me for studying. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this edition, and I greatly thank Crossway for publishing it, and Bolo for selling at such a reasonable price. One more word, however- I saw the trutone editions in a bookstore, and wasn't impressed. I think the quality of the trutone Bibles has gone down in the past year or so.

I purchased one of these over a year ago and was very impressed. In an attempt to encourage Bible reading, I gave it to my 16 year old son and am happy to confirm that he enjoys reading it (but will also confess that he recently expressed a preference for The Truth New Testament, having received it in Hard Cover a few months ago and more recently on USB MP3).Having initially returned to my trusted NIV (1984) Bible, I missed the ESV version and decided to purchase another for myself. Having read and studied the NIV for many years, I found the ESV a little challenging at first. The words didn't roll of my tongue quite as easily at first but after a relatively short period of time started to feel much more natural. If you have never tried the ESV, give it some time, it'll likely grow on you.I also purchased ESV Hear the Word Audio Bible (MP3 CD), as I spend a lot of time driving (operating machinery) and found this an excellent way to become more familiar with the ESV Bible.This particular version of the Bible appears to be very well made, feels like a quality product, and certainly looks the part.The leather feels 'real' with nice grainy texture and a very mild leathery smell. The binding feels strong and durable and while some pages were a little tricky to separate at first, it hasn't taken long to free them up. There is a single black place holder ribbon.I really like the layout and the font used. Its easy on the eyes (clear text) and while the pages are quite thin, there is only minimal bleeding (visible text on opposite page) that is not distracting. The 'words of Christ' are printed in a pale red (burgundy) and are clear without being to stark. The footnotes and references are very handy but extremely small and tightly spaced. At 51 (with average eyesight, reading glasses), I sometimes struggle a little if there isn't enough light. Fortunately, I also have Bible software on my computer/tablet and don't use this Bible much for in depth study or cross referencing. The concordance in the back, while not exhaustive, is useful and the fonts are clear, though smaller than the main text (not as small as the cross references). The maps, just inside the back cover, are clear and printed on nice thick paper, so as to not suffer from any transparency.Overall, I am extremely happy with this product and heartily recommend it to anyone wanting a durable, easy to read Bible that should last for many years.

Really excited about this Bible. The quality is great. The words show through a little more than I'd like, but not enough that it interferes with reading. The leather cover is nice and flexible, and the lay-flat binding is great. I was looking for a thinner Bible that would be easier to carry around but still has decent sized print, and this is exactly what I was hoping for.

1. The coverIt is genuine leather and it is soft, unlike most bonded leather bibles I have.2. The bindingIt is good and the Bible can be opened flat.3. Font size 10.5 pointsIt is just nice for me (I am in my late 40s), and I believe for those who prefer large print, this may be just the right font size.However, the font size for the references will be much smaller. I need to take off my glasses to read the references! But with this price and thickness (thinline), this is acceptable to me.4. ConcordanceI don't use a lot of concordance. The 60 pages (of more than 2,400 words) of concordance is good for me.5. MapsIt has 8 pages of maps, like most of the other bibles I have. But one thing I like about the maps here is the colour is softer and it is good for my eyes. Maps are essential in order to understand the context of the Bible.6. The RED printThe word of Jesus is in RED and the print is good, dark enough to read. I have some bibles where the red colour is very light and not so 'eye-friendly'.7. The paper qualityIt is good and there is no bleed through when I highlight the verses using a yellow highlighter.Overall, I like this Bible as it suits my needs and expectations.

Love Love Love. The size font is perfect, nice quality binding and cover as well. The best part is that it lays flat! Perfect for preaching. Although any highlighter other than yellow is very visible through the back of the page. Also I’ve found that ballpoint pens work well and don’t bleed through the page but felt tip type pens do bleed through more.

This Bible that I purchased from Bolo was the only Red letter version with the larger print that I could find. I went to the christian book store and they tried to help me but they could not find a red letter version with anything larger than 9 font print. This has 10.5 font print and is alot easier to read for me. There are tons of NIV versions out there and quite a few king james versions with larger or giant print. The Bible itself is very nice, a little stiff and the paper is thin but it has what I was looking for. I would recommend this bible to anyone who wants to read the ESV version with red lettering.

Beautiful. My go to Bible in english, although it is not my working language. I have been in ministry in Brasil for 45 years.
lovely bible binding, great version, clear large text.
Bible arrived when it was meant to. Text size is perfect for me! It feels great in the hand and the pages stay open (no need to bend the spine). I loved the way the ESV flows because of the accurate word by word and phrase by phrase translation. The authority of the word is held up in this translation. The footnotes are too small - that's my only criticism (but I have dodgy eyesight which requires glasses all the time). Dictionary/concordance in the back could be more comprehensive, but I guess that is why we should also own a separate concordance so the bible is not too cumbersome to carry about. If you sniff it you can even smell the leather! Price was best I found with crossway bibles
