About the Author
J. I. Packer (1926–2020) served as the Board of Governors’ Professor of Theology at Regent College. He authored numerous books, including the classic bestseller Knowing God. Packer also served as general editor for the English Standard Version Bible and as theological editor for the ESV Study Bible.
John Piper is founder and lead teacher of desiringGod.org and chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary. He served for thirty-three years as a pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is the author of more than fifty books, including Desiring God; Don’t Waste Your Life; and Providence.
Mark Dever (PhD, Cambridge University) is the senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC, and president of 9Marks (9Marks.org). Dever has authored over a dozen books and speaks at conferences nationwide. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife, Connie, and they have two adult children.
Bruce A. Ware (PhD, Fuller Theological Seminary) is T. Rupert and Lucille Coleman Professor of Christian Theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has written numerous journal articles, book chapters, and book reviews, and is the author of God's Lesser Glory and God's Greater Glory.

If you're looking for a comprehensive study Bible, this is the one. Maps, articles, well-researched introductions, super helpful footnotes, explanations and I think it has a concordance (not sure its called that though). Such a great resource for anyone wanting to go deeper into scripture. The info is balanced as expected of a diverse and qualified Bible committee, and the publishers are transparent (i.e you know who the authors are) which counrs for so much when you desire integrity as a reader. I've gotten to appreciate these qualities even more now that I've learned about the approach taken by sectarian translations /versions (New World Transaltion, the Passion Translation & Cepher to name a few).Its my first study Bible and the buy was well worth it. It's heavy though (lol) so it's probably not the Bible you want to take to church every week. Trust me I tried and stopped due to the weight. Right now, I'm contemplating whether to get a regular (read smaller, lighter) ESV specifically to travel with or just stick with my Bible app...

Besides having the excellent ESV text, this Bible is stuffed full of helpful information in terms of textual variants, verse commentary, as well as doctrinal articles. I have both the tru-tone personal size and this hard back version. The hard back is certainly easier on older eyes, but both are great options. Do note that the material outside of the ESV text itself does take a Reformed/Calvanist viewpoint. As an Arminian, I still find this an excellent study bible. I will say that while these are excellent for study, and I've heard several say if they were forced to choose only one theological volume this would be it...for me, this Bible is not my daily reader. I prefer to hold the Bible in my hands while I read, and these are large books to hold onto. If you like to read from a Bible on a desk, then this would make a great daily reader.

The media could not be loaded. It just came today, so I haven't read any of it yet. But, it came sealed in plastic, in a sturdy box. Just from skimming through it, I'm so excited at all the information and details that are in this book; the explanations, the colored maps, charts & diagrams, abbreviations, history of both the Old and New Testaments, etc. I can't wait to start my journey to strengthening my relationship with God. Very happy with my purchase.

I love this Bible so much. It is amazing for beginners who need and more in-depth understanding of the Bible. It can be hard to read the Bible itself sometimes, and the messages can at times get lost. With this Bible, not only does it provide maps and different information about the writer of each book in the Bible, but underneath the actual scripture, it gives a very detailed and accurate description of almost every passage and more of layman's terms so you can actually understand what you are reading and get the fool value of the message of the Word. It is a hardcover, and the cover is very sturdy. I have bought one for myself, my husband, and several family members and all of them have loved this Bible. It has helped them get closer to God and understand the message that the Bible is giving a lot better.

Excellent study bible edited by Wayne Grudem who is very sound theologically. Great resource.
I've been looking for a good study bible for some time and having picked up my daughters copy I thought this would be ideal. I also looked at an NIV one but found this easier to read. I'm a great fan of Wayne Grudem especially his book on systematic theology, so it's lovely to see his handywork in this study bible. Lots of extra resources, and maps and pictures, as context is everything. I wish I had bought this a long time ago, and I can't recommend it enough.
Nice bible study but Tobit and Ruth are missing
UPDATE: Matthew 17:21 was omitted from this bible. The NIV bible also omits it. Other verses were omitted also. I am starting to think I need to find an old used bible. So far I have found the book of Tobit and of Ruth missing. Lots of maps and diagrams. Lots of explanation of measurements (a shekel for instance). Lots of commentary. Almost good glossary.

I've been looking for a good study bible for some time and having picked up my daughters copy I thought this would be ideal. I also looked at an NIV one but found this easier to read.
