5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Identifying Alligators (Not Great for Identifying Iguanas)
This book is excellent for teaching your kids the difference between Alligators and Crocodiles. There have been many books with 1,000's of pages dedicated to showing the difference between the two similar, but totally different, species, but this book does more in 20 short pages then many treatises on the subject. This book has bright, colorful pictures, easy to read text and my son takes it wherever we go.However, I need to offer a big BUT on this one. If you are trying to identify iguanas, this is not the book for you. My son and I saw an iguana outside our home last week, opened the book, and could not figure out what type of iguana it was. I think it could be a little clearer on the cover, but the book is so good helping identifying Alligators and Crocodiles, I will not deduct it a star.

The best series ever for young readers. It is very hard to find books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the creatures, and has a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. And each book in this series has several upside down jokes that reference the animal, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. BTW, I have gotten more than 30 of these books for my classroom. Highly recommended!

I bought this for my grandson sixth birthday. He is big into alligators the colors and the way the book is laid out will definitely catch his attention and I can see him looking at it for hours and hours.

I have had both gators and crocks as pets, and have been bitten by both. They are smart and clever. This is fun to read and we'll written.

A great book about crocodilians for kids 4 to 7
My son's second grade class was learning about animals and how to write a factual book with chapters about an animal of interest. My son wanted to learn about crocodiles and alligators. This was a great book, because he could read it himself and it is well organized. We discussed the chapters and the information in the book. It served him well for that particular writing unit in school. The hardcover and paper were also of good quality so if you have more than one child who may read it, it is worth the money.

Informative, easy-to-read, and has sparked a further interest in nature.
Purchased for my six year old cousin who became enamored with crocodiles, or 'snappers' whilst we were on holiday in Florida. Not only is the book well laid out and interesting, it has also sparked an interest in nature, and she is now growing her library of National Geographic books.
