I was looking for a new world atlas to replace an old one that was falling apart. I'm kind of a map nerd and like the quality and detail in this new one. It's a great reference tool for providing overviews when we're planning trips or cruises.

For me, a normal person who reads the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times print edition every day, the National Geographic Family Reference Atlas of the World, fifth edition, is absolutely perfect for my needs. It is meticulously and thoughtfully designed to make it very easy to find countries and to present in an easy to read format essential facts about each country printed on the same page as the map of the country. I would give this 100 stars if I could. The maps are very easy to read, unlike the very difficult to read maps in the Oxford Essential World Atlas, eighth edition.

My first hard-cover world atlas! I've already spent hours soaking it in. So beautiful and informative, gorgeous maps & photos, well-organized, bursting with up-to-date info about our world and the people inhabiting it. (Returned the TIMES ATLAS, it was overly-detailed and almost impossible to read.) Don't look any further - this is the one!

This is a great book, high quality map and articles about geography, but 5% off every single map across two pages are lost due to the overly tight binding, this book can not lay flat, which is a big problem for a…map book. Please revise with other more sensible binding forms.

Loved this purchase. This book is beautiful and full of details on the various maps. Some of the print is too small for me to read, so I use my magnifying glass and/or take pictures with my camera and blow it up. It satisfies my need to locate countries and cities around the world.

In addition to the large maps, it also contains much information about the world, different, regions, culture, global issues. Highly recommend it for families to trigger conversations and interest amongst children. It's one of those few books that you can keep in the home for decades and still stays relevant!
