5.0 out of 5 stars Great workbook!

My kids have learned cursive well from these books. I have used them for four of my kids and would use them again. Great work book!

5.0 out of 5 stars normal cursive forms!

I took a long time searching for a cursive writing book that actually formed the letters correctly (as I remember learning them). This one has the little 'curl' that starts each letter - which is how the letters join, so I don't understand why so many other books leave it out. The letters are properly curled and slanted unlike for example Handwriting Without Tears where a lot of them go straight up. There are no weird loops in the 'b' and 'o' that I saw in other books. What I don't like about it is: how the Q is formed. You can see on the cover it looks like a Q instead of a 2. There's a blue version of this book called modern cursive handwriting that from the looks of it (I didn't purchase it as it would have taken too long to arrive) the only difference seems to be the Q. So that was easily fixed with white-out.I also don't like the progression of letters. It goes in ABC order instead of grouping similarly formed letters together and going from easy letters to hard letters. For that reason we are using this book together with Handwriting Without Tears which does teach the letters that way. My daughter first looks in her HWO workbook to see which letter she's learning, then practices it in this one, then does the page for that letter in the HWO book. It's crazy that there's no 'perfect' workbook with properly formed letters and the progression of letters the way that makes sense, but this is the solution I've come up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teacher-Friendly Book

My co-teacher and I purchased this little book for our 2nd grade students. We love it! It helps us teach cursive without the lengthy pages that take forever to review and correct. We give the students a smiley face if they are rewarded a sticker. We let the students choose their own sticker to put on their chart and they love this. We also love that the capital and lowercase letters are presented on the same page. The only thing I would like to see added is on the sticker reward chart on the back of the front cover. It would be great if the letters or page numbers could be printed in the boxes. Students could then check back to see if there was something for which they did not receive a sticker and they could practice that. I wrote them in mine, but it was time consuming. We will definitely buy these books again next year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice little workbook...

C.C. · July 4, 2016

I bought this for my son to work on over the summer since schools in TX have decided not to teach cursive anymore. I have no idea why except that the state would rather force teachers to spend 90% of the year teaching kids to take tests than to help them write nicely and read historical documents. Regardless, this little workbook is a great way for your child to self-teach a useful skill and makes for a nice break between rounds of marathon Minecraft building, lol. The lessons are clear, give them adequate opportunity to practice, and help them with connecting and letter formation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect first cursive book!

I purchased this for my kindergartener who wants to learn cursive. I love it! I like that the first pages cover basic needed shapes/form for letters. Then each letter has its one page for tracing and free writing of that letter. My favorite part is the blend pages! She is focusing on blends for reading so I love that she’ll be able to focus on them as she writes too! It’s a very well planned/designed book for early learners

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my 2nd grader

F.a.S. · October 19, 2018

I got this cursive writing book for my daughter in the summer before second grade because she was very interested in perfect penmanship, so I wanted to give her a challenge. She absolutely loves it, plenty of space to practice each component, blending different types of letters, then eventually writing full words by the end. Now she started 2nd grade and is ahead of her friends in preparation for cursive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great basic book for learning cursive

Great basic book for learning cursive! Shows how to form each letter, then gives a page to practice each. Also includes practice pages for joining letters. Simple and inexpensive!

3.0 out of 5 stars Kind of baby-ish (very basic)

A. · June 10, 2020

This may be good for an indivudual review of letters but there are only a few actual words and no sentences.I'd say more like kingergarten level rather than 2nd or 3rd (Yes, I realize schools don't start teaching cursive (if at all) until third grade but my third grader thought this book was totoally boring.)If you need to learn to trace individual letters as a very basic starter, this is a great cheap alternative, but it is neither interesting (or fun) in any way and very basic (see other reviewers photos - I should have looked beforehand, I just bought it based on price - oops!)
