5.0 out of 5 stars no way out
This was a good book I really enjoyed it. Just a clean suspense story. It was an easy read. I have read many books written by Fern Michael’s.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read . . .
I enjoyed the story lines and how they all blended together! It was nice to see how it all wound up.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good book!
It’s an easy and fast read. I loved the plot and how Fern was able to make it relevant and mysterious.
3.0 out of 5 stars Captivating
Good, quick read that unfolds with the introduction of each character in a secluded rural neighborhood in Missouri. The main character is suffering from amnesia but is regaining her memory after moving and hiding for her safety. Ellie is finally coming out of her shell and interacting with her neighbors by the end of the book which seems hurried. The buildup is twisty and has great character development. The domestic violence plays a major part in the story but the sudden change in the husband and mother-in-law is rushed. The tension changed and became mundane when Ellie figured out her boyfriend was the cause of her waking up in a hospital. Story seemed to end without explaining what really happened to Ellie.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great
Ellie who's real name was Libby was left in New York where she fell at a bottom of concrete steps. Her boyfriend ran away and left her there. If someone hadn't found her she would have died. When she did come to she was in the hospital with no memory of what happened. She was a computer geek and befriended a was another geek online. He made a game which she was able to sell. So when she was released from the hospital she moved and the kid was he befriended handled everything for her. She had intercoms, buzzers, close circuit tv. She had a dog & Cat and had a doggie door so she wouldn't have to go out. She hadn't gone out by of the house in 2 years. She had the kid who was 18 now do everything for her since she didn't want to go out. They one day she invited him in for coffee and she reached out to the woman down the street because her son use to come and play with her dog in her yard. She eventually told her what happened and her real name. The woman Colleen was going threw a rough time with her husband. He use to get drunk and one night he got abusive and she got away from and ran to her son's room baracaded the door and called the police. Her husband eventually changed and cleaned up his act. She fell for the cop who responded to the call when she called 911. Ellie 's boyfriend didn't know where she was so he called her girlfriend 's husband and wanted to borrow $5,000.00 . He had no intention of paying back. At first the girlfriend wouldn't let her husband give him the money. She called Ellie and told her but Ellie said to find out where he wanted it sent and tell him the only way was to send it by check. Ellie remembered what happened that night and called the New York police and told them. It was gonna take days so being a computer geek she called around and found out where he was gonna be and she had him followed. He paid someone to find her and came after her he said to apologize. Her 90 year old neighbor ran him down outside her house when he tried to get away when she hit all the alarm buttons. Her neighbor was going on a date with the cop and he picked up Robert her ex boyfriend he arrested him. He was transferred back to New York where he faced alot of legal trouble. So after being scared for 2 years she finally was able to meet her neighbors in person and stand outside.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise
Although foul language and negativity have become norms in our society, apparently Ms Michaels, Fern, has chosen to take the 'high road'... the one that focuses on the good that leads to cohesion, congeniality, and positive and fulfilling relationships. I however, was sort of disappointed that Rick's apparent attempt at redemption was seemingly ignored in the outcome narrative... Including what happened to the person Rick 'hired', and what had he hired that person to do? Thank you, Fern, for a whole novel without use of foul language.
5.0 out of 5 stars Always a Way Out!!
Great story!! Keep me interested the whole time reading!! I love to read & this story was great, keep me on my toes & I wanted to keep reading till the I finished!!
2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was very disappointed in this book. It had a 4 Star rating and I've read other books by this author, so I thought it would be a good book. While there was one main character who was experiencing a problem there were MULTIPLE other characters who were dealing with issues. The author attempted to bring them together, but it was confusing and not interesting at times.
engrossing, quick read
Enjoyed the characters, the community coming around to support those in need. It does take a village. You can truly see the story unfold into a happy ever after, despite the darker moments we all experience.
Fantastic
Brilliant book
Interesting plot twists
It was a little slow in places different sport line. I would recommend reading this book. Well executed story as it suprises.
On the fence
Up to the end the story was intriguing enough to make a person finish but the ending was so anti-climatic it almost felt like a waste of book. The background of what and why "Ellie's" accident happened could have been built up way better.
Slow start, positive ending
Slow to start, not a gripping thriller that I expected. The end was positive with a bit of action towards the end. An easy read. For those who are in the moment to be entertained, mildly.
