About the Author
Alex Ross first came to prominence as the illustrator of Marvel’s before producing the award-winning Kingdom Come. With a graphic novel for Vertigo (Uncle Sam), several projects for Marvel Comics, and six oversized graphic novels starring DC's iconic heroes (collected in The World's Greatest Heroes), the top-selling Justice series and more, he continues to bring comics to a broader audience. In 2003, Ross was the subject of a retrospective of his work for DC Comics, Mythology (Pantheon Books), written and designed by Chip Kidd.

Amazing book. One of the first full comic arcs I've read and it was absolute cinema. I read Batman death in the family and a bit of hush but this was just amazing. The art is great, the story line is amazing. Wow. I wish there was a hardcover with this cover art too, the cover art is beautiful.

Very high quality book and story. If you’re a fan of DC you’ll probably like this one a lot. I found it a bit overwhelming at first but by the end I really enjoyed it.

I consider this book to be ahead of its time as the values of traditional heroes (no kill rule) are constantly questioned today and we are in a renaissance of anti-heroes. Shows the 'come-out-of-retirement' esque side of Batman and Superman is given a lot of time to shine in this story as well. Lex Luthor and Shazam end up having significant roles as well as this was just a well-conceived plot from start to finish. As for the illustrations, I consider Alex Ross to be the best illustrator I have ever come across and Kingdom Come is just one of the many books he signifies his skill in such a manner. I think if you're looking for something action-packed this might not be your cup of coffee because the action doesn't really start to hit until towards the last chapter or two (not going into spoilers but the one on one battle that occurs is one of the greatest showdowns I've seen in a comic book), but the story and the underlying themes is truly where this story shines brightest. One of the all time greats in comic history for a reason and one of the most beloved ones at that, all fully deserving.

For a DC comics fan especially Justice League this is a very good book and asks important questions of whether superheroes are gods or people, and can people accept them amongst themselves or treat them as gods

Superman, ne è passato di tempo!
In tutti i sensi,Quest'opera dall'arte precisa e realistica di Alex Ross è un ritorno dell'uomo di acciaio classico (quello che si cambiava d'abito nei cabinet telefonici e che portava i mutandoni rossi sopra i pantaloni, per intenderci). La storia è stand-alone, dalla lunghezza ampia e con una caratterizzazione dei personaggi più che realistica, non solo sul piano emotivo ma anche su quello fisico (se l'età porta alla saggezza da una parte, dall'altra riduce le energie per poter gestire le situazioni più impegnative oltre a restringere la propria visione d'insieme).I supereroi di un tempo sono vere e proprie montagne, simboli a cui fare riferimento in tempi di crisi.....ma crisi è anche sinonimo di crescita e cambiamento e ciò che era valido in passato potrebbe non esserlo più in futuro.....oppure no?.Un fumetto (e forse anche qualcosa più di questo) grandioso, adatto a tutti.
