About the Author
Jonathan "JP" Pokluda is the lead pastor of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He was formerly the leader of The Porch in Dallas, which grew to be the largest weekly young adult gathering of its kind in the country. JP didn’t come to understand the grace of the gospel until his early twenties after being involved in different denominational churches his entire life. This ignited a desire in him to inspire young adults to radically follow Jesus Christ and unleash them to change the world. JP’s wife and partner in ministry is Monica, and together they disciple their children Presley, Finley, and Weston.

I have purchased several copies of this book to give away because, I feel its that important. More people need to realize the true battle here and its something you cannot always see, but you can definitely feel. Open your eyes, pay attention to what you see and hear around you. What you eat, what you say, what you watch, read, listen too, what you do, how you act...What are you allowing yourself to take in and how does that effect what you put out into the world.

This was the best book I have ever read on Spiritual warfare! I couldn’t put it down and would highly recommend every new Christian read it, along with seasoned Christians. Amazing!!

This is a good book for everyone learn about SALVATION and the LORD. And to have to steer clear of the DEVIL.

This book is fantastic!! If I would have written a book on what God has taught me the last few years on this topic, it would have been like this. Such great confirmation from the Holy Spirit. And so practical and relatable, very helpful! Also… Pookie, LOL. Any Psych fan will laugh when they read one particular sentence in this book haha. But in all seriousness, every believer should read this book and have it in their library!

I gave this book 4 stars because I love a lot of this book, its so incredibly good! It is funny, insightful and very important to understand our enemy! It has a lot of VITAL information and I truly hope you buy it and read it asap!HOWEVER, The author begins describing "Hell" on page 11 and it is NOT Biblical. If you don't believe me, begin studying the Hebrew lexicon for the different uses and potential meanings of the Hebrew words "forevers" & "eternals."Lost people DO NOT SUFFER and have PAIN after Judgement Day, AT ALL, EVER. There is no more pain or suffering for anyone, ever again, after Christ administers final justice. Saying he would allow people to suffer while the rest of us spend joyous time with him in heaven...that is an insult to Jesus.Do not take my word for it, go, see for yourself.God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are LOVING in the purest sense of the word and I cannot allow people to believe the lies of the enemy (he tricks us ALL multiple times in our lives, even the ones who believe themselves to be scholarly and God-loving) so I was uncomfortable but had to add this review.

“If the devil were going to take you out, how would he do it?” The opening line of this book… WOW! What a question! Something I’ve never really thought of, but after reading this book, my eyes have been opened in practical ways of what this looks like everyday. Growing up in the church, I’ve heard about “spiritual warfare” and know the verse talking about not fighting against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), but it’s not something widely discussed or something that was in the forefront of my mind. It’s also something that my mom would remind me of throughout my years growing up, but I never really thought much of it either. Funny enough (but not at the same time), the deeper I got into this study, the more my eyes are opened to the fact that the villain is truly working in his fight against me and my growth in Christ. Thankfully this book has given me practical ways to fight the enemy coming after me.Like every other book I’ve read by JP, I’m drawn by his stories, authenticity, challenges and humility through his words. One of the chapters that stood out to me was “Walkie-Talkie” prayers. Without giving away too much (cause you really should read it for yourself), this chapter included a section about “Psychology and Prayers.” This re-iterated to me something that I discovered as a college student (around 10 years ago)— that “the Bible is a fantastic book on psychology, the human psyche and how to rightly understand your outlook and perspective.” If you don’t believe me (or JP), go read it for yourself— it might change your life.Not only does this book effectively into who the villain is & their tactics, but for those of us who call ourselves Christ followers, it truly does an amazing job of showing us how to fight. At the end of the day, God’s won the battle already, we just need to live everyday with that in mind when the devil tries to take you out! One of my challenges from this study— learning how to pray with conviction and boldness, knowing that in the name of Jesus, the Enemy would be defeated— this is my starting point. I hope you find your starting point in this, but also start with picking up this book and reading it for yourself. Everyone should read this book and give one to their friends! It changed a lot of perspectives in my life and made me understand a few things much more clearly.I’m proud to have it on my bookshelf. I can’t wait to read it over again.I have read all of Pokluda’s books. I feel like he’s someone I can trust to keep it real and biblical.I definitely recommend this book and especially the author.
Fantastic book
Definitely recommend. Todays struggles explained so simply. I am an avid reader of Christian books and this is right at the top. If your looking for the book to be laden with scriptures (some are mentioned) it isn’t, but the author relates to our every day life, it’s brilliant. Enjoy

I have just started this. Hoping to be done by the weekend. Good examples. It is easy to read. It has made the rethink how casual I am about spiritual warfare. I would definitely recommend.

Such a good read! Literally and figuratively. I’ve learned so much and it opened my eyes to what is really happening — that we have an enemy, a villain, in our lives who constantly seeks to steal, kill, and destroy our walk with the Lord. However, by reading this book as well it gave me the strategy and insights on not only practical ways to counter the enemy’s attacks and footholds, but to also WIN the battles in Jesus’ mighty name! Kudos to JP for making a book in layman’s terms that we may be able to understand what is “Spiritual Warfare”, what is truly happening in the spiritual realm, and how to WIN this under the authority of Christ our Lord.
Life changing for anyone!
