I have read many of Swindolls books & each one has brought me to a better understanding of God. Like swindoll I’m a former Marine, maybe that’s why I enjoy his writings.

I may have a bias for Chuck Swindoll's way of narration since reading his Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life but the Great Lives series is a collection i want to complete. Job is one of the enduring character in the Bible that is so relatable and this book makes you look at it in a very "now" point of view, relatable indeed.

I am currently on hospice care with perhaps 3 months to live because of brain tumors. Before reading this book I had gone through a "dark period" when God's voice was silent. After prayer with my hospice chaplain I came out of the dark place but wanted something to fortify me as I grow weaker. This is not just a commentary ! Swindoll does explain every. passage,but he also weaves in personal stories that apply to our lives. This is a wonderful book for anyone living with hurt or for those who want tominister to. a hurting world.

The author takes on a difficult study and, not only handles it well, he makes it easy and exciting to read. This whole series will definitely draw you closer to God.

Although I read through the book of Job before, this is the first time I’ve clearly understood the full implication of all that Job experienced. What a great book to use as the foundation for lessons in life. Thank you.
