5.0 out of 5 stars Great prep book

K.D. · September 8, 2025

My son used this book to prep for the ACT and it helped him SO much. He spent 40min a day for two weeks going through this and he felt like it prepared him a lot. He was able to brush up on things he had forgotten (especially in Math, he said) and was better able to anticipate what the real test would be like. It also taught him several strategies to help him manage his time during the test. He just took the real ACT this week and left feeling really confident, and said he for sure would not have done as well if he hadn’t prepared with this book. Now we just have to wait “2-8 weeks” to find out how he did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource

V. · October 26, 2025

Great resource for the new test! I grabbed this to help tutor students who began taking the old test, but are now a bit nervous about the new one. It helps to see lots of examples and be able to talk about them with this book in front of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Exam Format!

J.H. · September 3, 2025

I am an award winning test prep tutor with over ten years of experience. I have used a lot of books over the years. I had a favorite for the previous exam format. This book is an amazing resource for preparing for the newly redesigned exam. My students are enjoying the layout of the strategies and rules. My only suggestion would be to add a quick set of answers for every exam like the first exam in the book. The others only have the long explanations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money

J. · October 10, 2025

As advertised. The book arrived in pristine condition.Actually, this book is way thicker than it appeared to be in the advertisement. I just hope my daughter can get through it in time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Highly disappointing

A. · August 12, 2025

The ACT should have editors who ensure the published materials have at least a modicum of accuracy. Why make the answer sheets confusing? The number of questions on the answer sheets corresponds to the number of questions on the old version of the ACT, not the current one. Surely these could and should have been updated. Far worse, students have no way to gauge what their scores would be --the scales are wildly off.Unfortunately, the new volume contains only 4 practice tests; previous editions have included 6 tests. The ACT needs to make these corrections ASAP and make them available to those of us who have purchased this marginally useful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Version of the test - BUT only FOUR full tests, not eight

L.L.M. · May 14, 2025

Finally - we get to see what the new version of the ACT is going to look like. This book is always my first "go to" when I'm working with students to help them prepare for the ACT.But BEWARE ... the four online tests currently (as of May 2025) are exactly the same as the four printed in the book! So the purchase of the book only gives you four unique tests to study with.I'm sure as this new version of the ACT becomes the norm more will be added. For now, I'm sorely disappointed they didn't make this clear in their marketing copy on the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful

Thorough resource and contains codes to get access to free practice exams online

2.0 out of 5 stars Provides official practice, but with many discrepancies from what I expected.

C.O. · June 20, 2025

This prep book does provide official practice tests in the new format (which will be rolled out starting April 2025 for weekend computer testing, September 2025 for weekend paper testing, and February 2026 for in-school computer and paper testing). However, every single question in every one of these practice tests has been taken from a previous official ACT test - none of the questions are new! (See Brooke Hanson's excellent comment for more info on exactly which older practice tests were "sliced and diced" to form these four new practice tests!)The 4 online tests that were promised are just online versions of the 4 tests in the red book. To me, the front cover of the book (which states "4 full-length tests in the book and 4 online") suggests that the 4 paper and 4 online tests would be distinct, but they're not. The online tests are in a format (on the Wiley website) that is almost unusable for most of the sections; it doesn't put the passage and questions side-by-side for English/reading/science, and for all four sections of each online test, while you can move throughout the section and answer the questions in any order, you get feedback immediately after answering each question, without an option to change that. While the book provides updated grading scales for each section of each new test, it does not provide updated bubble sheets for each new test. The bubble sheets in this book reflect the old format of the test, which had more questions per section (except for Science) and 5 answer choices for each math question! Thankfully, while these bubble sheets don't exactly fit the new format, you can still use them, since they have either the same amount of or more questions than the actual new tests have (along with 5 answer choice options for math, compared to the 4 options you actually have for each math question on the new test). While the book offers detailed answer explanations for each problem and an answer key for each test, it doesn't tell you which content domain (question type) each question belongs to on a given test. This can make it difficult to figure out exactly which question types are your strongest/weakest and stands in contrast to the TIR/ACT My Answer Key released tests, which usually provide answer keys with the question types listed next to each question.I did some digging myself on the question types for the English section of each practice test in this new book. Based on my calculations, the question types for the English sections of tests 1-3 seem to line up with what the ACT says they'll test you on (in terms of what percentage of English questions falls under each question type, according to the 2025-2026 Preparing for the ACT Test document the ACT released). However, the question types for the English section on test 4 are slightly off (less Knowledge of Language questions and more Conventions of Standard English questions than promised).I also found a problem with the amount of questions dedicated to each passage type on the Science sections of all 4 tests in this book (tests 1-4: less conflicting viewpoints questions than promised on the 2025-2026 Preparing for the ACT Test document - also test 4: way more data representation questions than promised + way less research summary questions than promised). While my calculations could be off, I have tutored for the ACT since 2018, and I am a perfect 36 scorer (36 on all four sections of the test on one test, the September 2018 ACT), so I am quite confident in my abilities to identify question and passage types at this point.Overall, I just feel shorted by this book, in addition to being misled by the proportions of question types and passage types for English and Science on some of the tests in the book (as mentioned above). I haven't even checked math and reading to make sure the proportions line up for each of those tests as well (compared to what the 2025-2026 Preparing for the ACT Test document says the proportions will be) - there could be even more discrepancies there.
