Absolutely devoured this book! I took it with me on my vacation and after I read it, one of my friends borrowed it she also read it in one sitting!!

This is a lovely return to Disney's animated classic Cinderella. The letters we peek at between August and Ella are sweet and fun. The mystery is captivating, lending an air of newness to a story we know so well.However, one aspect that holds back that final star is the portrayal of same gender couples. If I had known, I would not have bought the book. Otherwise, a beautifully crafted story.

If you've loved any edition of Cinderella, this book was made for you! (Mine was Ever After with Drew Barrymore, thank you very much.)We see August, Prince Charming, and Ella being pen pals from a young age. Eventually, they stop writing each other after the loss of August's mother and Ella's father. After years of study, August returns home to a letter from Fresne, asking the king to help solve a mystery of people losing their memories of loved ones.I'm not a huge Cinderella fan, but I won't lie when I said this book made me sob! It all came down to one line, "You shouldn't give up love to avoid loss."
3.0 out of 5 stars A LOT of LGBT content not a lot of The Prince and Cinderella's Story
I appreciated that this book took the perspective of the Prince's story. However, I did not like that there was so much LGBT content in the relationships of the people they were helping, including the Prince's best friend. That was uncomfortable for me to read as a grown woman. I couldn't want to imagine how it is for growing young teens and adults to read that and most likely have the same reaction I did. It was in your face yet subtle, but was mentioned multiple times in different ways throughout each chapter. After I finished the book, I threw it away. It took away from the original love story and most of the book was based around those non-traditional romantic relationships with slashes of the Prince and Cinderella's love story. I didn't like it.

I tend to be not much of a book reader since I stare at a computer all day but throughly enjoyed this! It was an easy read and made you fall in love with their story all over again! I can’t wait to read the other two books now!
