I enjoyed this book very much as part of the whole story line. I did not pre-order this book as I have with others in this series. In the past I had issues with stained covers but this book arrived in perfect condition! Perhaps because it wasn't a rushed pre-order? It is something I will keep in mind for the next book.

This is a new backstory for the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. It’s not a standalone book, but it’s a fun read. As with several of the other Villains books, it gives an interesting backstory to a villain and helps you feel sympathy for the villain’s ending.

It’s important to know that this is part of a connected series, and can’t be read out of order.Valentino references the animated Disney classic, and not Carol’s classic novels.On page 229 the next Villain in the series is introduced.
