“A gripping journey.”
—People

The highly anticipated memoir from hip-hop icon Rick Ross chronicles his coming of age amid Miami’s crack epidemic, his star-studded controversies and his unstoppable rise to fame.

Rick Ross is an indomitable presence in the music industry, but few people know his full story. Now, for the first time, Ross offers a vivid, dramatic and unexpectedly candid account of his early childhood, his tumultuous adolescence and his dramatic ascendancy in the world of hip-hop.

Born William Leonard Roberts II, Ross grew up “across the bridge,” in a Miami at odds with the glitzy nightclubs and yachts of South Beach. In the aftermath of the 1980 race riots, he came of age at the height of the city’s crack epidemic. All the while he honed his musical talent, overcoming setback after setback until a song called “Hustlin’” changed his life forever.

From his first major label deal to the controversies, health scares, arrests and feuds he had to transcend along the way,
Hurricanes is a revealing portrait of one of the biggest stars in the rap game and an intimate look at the birth of an artist.

Truly enjoyed reading this memoir while recovering. Insightful, thoughtful…excellent way to put the pieces to the puzzle together. New level of respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A reminder that great things can emerge from life's storms.

Purchased this about 6 months ago and finally finished after a few delays. I have been a Rick Ross fan but never a die hard/hardcore fan. This book shared a lot of great information and explained a lot of things that had been twisted by the media. The honesty, ownership and absolute hustle the Teflon Don speaks about in this book is a real eye opener. It was very interesting to see the behind the scenes stories and information not fully known to the public. I have to take my hat off to this man for sharing the good, the bad and the ugly - all of the behind the scenes documenting his trials and tribulations in this book. The amount of determination and ambition is something extremely admirable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Rick Ross, hip hop, business or learning life lessons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great red for Hip Hop Heads

If your're a fan of Ross or not, or a hip hop fan in general this is a great read, as we've all been there since his debut, Port of Miami and this Chronicles from the start even before then, through then, until recently. Now looking into his 2nd book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this Memoir

I am not a huge fan of rap, but I loved this memoir. The title of the book is a metaphor for Ross's life : the trauma and the triumph. Everyone who has been down and out at times ( aka all of us) should be able to relate to Ross's story. His perseverance, discipline and focus in the face of adversities is to be admired. I finished this memoir in a day.... the style is engaging, genuine, and straight forward.... as if Ross is sitting down and and having a conversation with you. Highly recommend!

As a fan of the most iconic grunts in music history, it's very interesting to read about the trials and tribulations of one of my favorite artist and entrepreneur. Ross details his memoir in a way that catches readers attention. From his rise in the music industry to his success in the fast-food industry, Ross definitely answers a lot of questions concerning his come up in Miami.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bo$$ did not disappoint

C. · September 6, 2019

I have been a fan of Rozay from the start, and was eagerly anticipating this release (I even was the highlight of one of his vlogs he mentioned back when he was touring with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on Worldstar.) He connected a lot of dots from his bars over the years on his albums and tapes. It's the first book I've finished cover to cover in a day, I could not put it down. I haven't been compelled to write a review in the past, this book is 100% worth the read.
