Together We Burn

Description:

A lush, enchanting standalone fantasy inspired by medieval Spain, filled with romance, adventure, and just the right amount of danger, now in paperback with exclusive bonus scenes!

An ancient city plagued by dragons

Eighteen-year-old Zarela Zalvidar is a talented flamenco dancer and daughter of the most famous Dragonador in Hispalia. People come for miles to see him fight in their arena, which will one day be hers. But disaster strikes during one celebratory show, and in the carnage, Zarela’s life changes in an instant.

A flamenco dancer who must become a dragon hunter to save her family legacy

With the Dragon Guild trying to wrest control of her inheritance from her, Zarela has no choice but to train to become a Dragonador. But when the most talented dragon hunter left in the land -- the infuriatingly handsome Arturo Díaz de Montserrat -- withholds his help, Zarela cannot take no for an answer. Without him, her world will burn.

Romantic like the movie "The Mummy" but wholly unique with its Old Spain flare. Zarela is a wonderful character and her strengths and flaws work perfectly together to help her save her home. I feel like I just finished watching a new favorite movie. I usually only borrow from kindle but am willing to PAY to read more books by this author.(For anyone like me who wants to read fantasy romance but doesn't want descriptive sex, there is one scene towards the end but it is not graphic)

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this one!

Enemies-to-lovers set in fantasy Spain with dragonfighting and a bit of mystery!I absolutely loved this story!!The worldbuilding was so fantastic and easily imaginable as the story went on. I could picture the heat and the cave and arenas; I really felt immersed! The characters were also well developed and the bickering and interactions between the enemies-to-lovers was perfect!! Zarela and Arturo's relationship was written very well! The story was well paced and the tension and reveals were executed with satisfaction!Overall this was a fantastic read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Exciting Fantasy With an Hispanic Taste

If you are bored of the vaguely sort-of-English setting very common in fantasy novels, then this book can interest you.In a setting reminding us of late-medieval Spain, flamenco, dragon-fighting, guild politics--and, of course, some good old "quarrelers-to-lovers" romance. These are but some of the things that you should expect in Together We Burn, a title which, by the way, is very good at catching the eye.The world-building is stellar and, in my opinion, being the strongest and most memorable point of the novel, the Hispanic influences of the author shining through and through; there's nothing quite like it in modern fantast as far as I can tell. On the other hand, the plot, though always intriguing, could be said to by some to be solved relatively quickly in the end (Spoiler alert: I would have loved to see the protagonist try to fight dragons a little bit more before she discovers her "solution" to her problems, though I understand narratively why that didn't happen).Overall, if you like fantasy with a slightly Young Adult vibe, or you just want to try and read a setting different from the common stock out there, you should give this book a try, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Not as good of a read as I was hoping.I felt the story dragged and had a lot of repetitive information. It wasn't until about chapter 20 and on where it actually started to get interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute romance, fun dragon/magic, good twist

N.S. · November 27, 2024

Cute romance. As predictable as the setup was, the actual falling for each other was super cute! Not too spicy. I liked the dragon concept, would like to see more of the magic system (it's separate from the dragons) There was a very good twist! I didn't see it coming! I hope there's another book in this setting.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic!!

I didn’t even want to read about dragons and fighting, but I loved her other book so I started this book and found that I didn’t want to put it down. I read it all in one day, yes it’s the only thing I did that day, don’t judge . I completely enjoyed it! She is a fantastic writer, and I have loved every book of hers I have read. Even if I didn’t think I would! I stand corrected.

Such a fun and unique tale amid everything else I’ve been reading recently. I loved the fantasy Spanish setting, loved the dragons, loved the twists, it was all great

4.0 out of 5 stars A Spanish Spin on Dragons

S. · November 4, 2024

3.75 🌟 maybe round up to a 4.In this romantasy, we have magic and dragons with a Spanish flair. Dragons here are treated like bulls, with dragons being forced to fight for the enjoyment of a crowd. Its bullfights but with dragons.Overall it was enjoyable, but pretty predictable. Though I wasn't sure where the main female character's arc was going for a while, and I'm glad I didn't read a book where she learned to fight and kill dragons. This author seems to also kill characters, so sensitive readers beware.

Dragon bullfighting and dancing!

An absolutely amazing read! I love all dragon stories and thought this concept of dragon bullfighting was a really interesting twist!I didnt expect it to become one of my favourite books of all time. The story was interesting and the characters felt very real and fleshed out they all had likeable and unlikeable traits. The dragons felt very real and believable and the whole continent felt real too.I laughed and cried and will be re reading this many times I think! Worth reading the whole way through even if the beginning doesn't hook you right away!12/10
