4.0 out of 5 stars Easy read
An easy read with enough dimension to keep you interested. Overall a heartwarming story of family, nostalgia, love and a bit of mystery. I enjoyed it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun summer read.
Mary Kay Andrew’s books are fun to read.
5.0 out of 5 stars a must read for Andrews fans
I loved this book! I’ve enjoyed all of Mary Kay Andrews books but this was the best. I’ve enjoyed had trouble putting it down.
3.0 out of 5 stars Long and not worth it
I look forward to Mary Kay Andrews new summer release each year. I know this author used to write her mysteries under her real name, and I am not that fond of mysteries. I love her earlier summer romances. Hissy Fit and Savannah Blues were favorites. Some time ago, she released the old mysteries under the name Mary Kay Andrews. So now, it seems the two genres are running together. Hello Summer was some of both, but neither part of the plot was terribly interesting. It did include another sassy lead female (love the personalities this author creates), and it had a few lines that made me laugh out loud. So it wasn't terrible. And I might actually imagine this one made into a movie, as many of the characters were nicely quirky and would translate well on the screen. But compared to my favorites from Mary Kay, this did not reach her usual standard.

5 stars!marykayandrews has been referred to as the queen of beach reads and really that is quite true with this latest. Hello, Summer is Mary Kay Andrews latest book, with a touch of mystery with the protagonist being a journalist always chasing the truth in the latest story.Conley Hawkins left her small beach town in the rearview mirror years ago to chase a career as a journalist. Conley made a success of her career winning awards and working for a large paper in Atlanta, but she continued to want more, and in the opening is setting up a new job. Just as she was packing up to leave Atlanta, the job fell through. With her plans going up in smoke and nowhere to live or work, Conley jumps in her car and heads south to the town she grew up in. Conley’s sister had taken over the family business running the small paper “The Silver Bay Beacon.” After arriving in town Conley quickly stumbles on a major story and finds herself working for her sister.Hello, Summer takes the normal contemporary with a fast paced hard hitting lead. We still have plenty of family drama with some romance mixed in, but it was so much fun following along with Conley as she uncovered decades old scandals and stayed on top of current news. Plenty of action keeping me turning the pages as I not only fell in love with the characters and setting but had fun with the breaking news stories along the way.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great story!
I could hardly put this book down! Loved the story and the characters! The setting was wonderful and makes me want to head to the Gulf coast.
5.0 out of 5 stars Every book!
I’ve read every book this author has written under both her names. Being a native of Georgia and having also lived in Atlanta, the original detective series were so much fun because I could identify with all the places and it was like being in the novel. And then there were the stories about thrift shopping and fixing places up with a good story running through all the books. This book’s setting on the FL panhandle was very reminiscent of the days my family spent summers in Panama City when I was growing up. Then as an adult I lived in Panama City Beach from 1974 to 1978 and my daughter was born there. It is so easy for me to visualize Silver Bay.I can truly credit Mary Kay Andrews as the cause of loss of sleep because when I start one of her books, I just have the hardest time putting it down and read far into the nights. Love be the characters and how real she makes them. Can’t wait for the next one! My birth name was Mary Kay, BTW.
Great read

A good mixture of family, mystery, relationships that kept you interested all the time. A long book, but read very quickly.
Average
I’m a huge fan of the author and eagerly await her summer read especially as I’m an annual visitor to the Florida panhandle where I have found a sleepy seaside spot that I call my happiest place on earth. I love Mary Kay’s depictions of this life in fiction. This one was a fun read but perhaps not her best story. There is a very long build up which is still worthwhile and interesting but I think I wanted more of a surprise somewhere. Nevertheless a fun read and a mental holiday to my favourite spot, in a year where travel there isn’t allowed.
Good
Exactly what I expected
Great read to take you away!
It was great read for COVID times, takes you away while keeps you in suspense.
Always a treat
Her books are so good that I have started rereading them from her first one.
