5.0 out of 5 stars Good source of information
I wanted to learn bookkeeping to use with my budgeting skills. This book is very insightful and a good source of information. I use it with online courses I look. I recommend it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good for bookkeepers
I was having problems understanding the debits and credits in double-entry accounting, how they are applied to the different financial statements. This book is basic and explains just enough for beginners, without overwhelming them and give them enough knowledge to become a bookkeeper if they want to. This may not be the book for business owners who want to understand financial statements their accountants give them but will give a better understanding of what bookkeepers go through and how detailed the work can be.The authors organized the chapters in an easy to read, explaining the basics first and then going through the bookkeeping process to the closing at the end of the year. When it came to recommending software, they came up short and didn't mention Xero which seems to be an upcoming software. This is the book if you want to learn about bookkeeping. You won't regret it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Received today, looks good (amendment coming)
Just a word of thanks on receiving the book today. Delivered on time and a quick thumb thru to find no smearing of ink as some others mentioned in their reviews or ratings. Admittedly, I am in the Dummie category when bookkeeping becomes the word of the day. So after searching for some books on proper bookkeeping and setting up a system for my business my focus was drawn to this book in particular ahead of two others I will be ordering in the next couple of days. I am looking forward to amending this review at a later date with more thoughts and inputs. For now I just want to acknowledge receiving in good condition and say thank you for what appears to be a lot of information you have put out here for the dummies like me that need clarity and help. 👍
4.0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise, helpful
Many Dummies Books just recite or regurgitate how to run a particular program, with screen shots and obvious explanations. This book is different. It clearly explains - and repeats - how and why you make certain bookkeeping entries and what their effect is on your books. It's not an accounting book - that's a different kettle of fish. This book will be most helpful to small business people who are struggling with just how and why to set up your books and record various transactions. There are a couple of areas where it's not quite prescriptive enough but for the most part it provides enough information for an interested person to sort out just what's going on with the credits and debits.I found it most helpful to clarify things I have to do as a bookkeeper for my small business.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!
Awesome great buy!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource!
I am only halfway through, but this book has already taught me so much and has boosted my confidence in stepping into the bookkeeping world! I plan to start my own bookkeeping business soon, and this book has explained concepts so simply and is such a useful tool.
3.0 out of 5 stars Fine but very limited practicality
The information is accurate and presented in an approachable manner. The pacing felt appropriate as a beginner. However, there is no "doing" in this book. You are just reading about the concepts. You don't get to practice them. There's really not much way to show that I understood what I just read about. So if, like me, you're trying to learn this on your own, this book will only get you so far. Best to invest in a true textbook that will question you and give you opportunities to try out the concepts presented.

It is very helpful
It is not an easy read.Simple book keeping is not simple. Very informative.
