"How To Build A Kick-Ass Advertising Agency" is a hilarious, irreverent, and spot-on guide that cuts through the fluff and delivers pure advertising gold. Peter's wit and wisdom shine through every page, making this not just an informative read, but an entertaining one as well. His no-nonsense approach to tackling the challenges of building and running an ad agency is refreshing and, most importantly, effective. I finished adding to my 9 notes with quick thoughts on where I could improve my game immediately. What sets this book apart is its perfect balance of high-level strategy and nitty-gritty practicality. Unlike many industry books that get lost in philosophical musings (and mostly revisionist history bullshit), Peter instead tells it like it is and provides tangible examples and actionable advice. From uncovering your agency's unique value proposition to crafting killer pitches that win clients, he covers it all with the precision of a seasoned pro. The chapters on financial management and client retention are particularly good, offering insights that many creatives-turned-entrepreneurs desperately need.Maybe the most valuable aspect of this book is Peter's emphasis on business development and client relationships. Drawing from his impressive experience, including his time at Saatchi & Saatchi, he offers strategies rooted in real-world successes. His advice on branding, networking, and promoting your agency effectively is worth its weight in gold. For anyone looking to build a kick-ass advertising agency or simply up their game in the industry, this book isn't just recommended reading – it's essential. Also, why wouldn't you want your agency to kick ass????

this is a solid book, it helps agency owners plan, prep and optimize ways to build a successful ad agency. It helps reveals tried and true practices of other ad agencies have been successful, and how you can replicate winning strategies. I've read other books that tend to be very high-level and philosophical, however Peter's book not only provides great insights, but tangible examples on how to properly do things.Things I enjoyed:- weird comment, but the font size and headlines made it so easy to read, everything was well organized and followed a good sequential order.- Interesting to read Peter's past successes and how I can apply them to my agency- Good usage of humor and sarcasm, light hearted- it was a relief to know that a lot of the problems I have are common among other agencies, it created a sense of community and collaborationWhat I wanted more of:- at times it felt like some chapter can be its own book, for example, business development is a large undertaking and has so many intricaciesIn summary, highly recommended, a good read that's well worth it.

"How To Build A Kick-Ass Advertising Agency" is a solid work that provides aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned advertising professionals with invaluable insights and actionable strategies for building a successful advertising agency.I first met Peter at the Fuel Lines conference in Nashville several years ago and since then, we've been in touch, predominantly on business development topics. If you don't know Peter, go to his LinkedIn profile to view his bona-fides, which include an impressive run at Saatchi & Saatchi. One of the most valuable aspects, IMO, of "How To Build A Kick-Ass Advertising Agency" is Peter's emphasis on two aspects of the industry, business development, and client relationships/management.He emphasizes the significance of understanding and addressing clients' needs, maintaining open communication, and delivering exceptional results-fundamental to building trust and fostering long-lasting partnerships. And in regards to business development strategies, he provides practical tips for branding, networking, and promoting your agency effectively. As someone who has experienced the challenges of establishing a business in a dynamic industry, Peter's advice is not just theoretical; it's rooted in real-world experiences."How To Build A Kick-Ass Advertising Agency" really is a must-read for anyone aspiring to thrive in the advertising industry.

This is a great book written by an adman who has definitely got the t-shirt. Ad agencies … yes they do still exist .. operate in a highly competitive environment. But strangely are often very bad at sales, self branding and promotion. If you want to survive, buy the book and do as many things that PL suggests as you can.
