One of my all-time favorites. I cry every time I read it.... [The book] is a beautiful script about parenthood, a poignant parable about life and death, a testimony to when the roles of child and parent become blurry. The story reminds you that no matter how grown up you are, you're always someone's child; that no matter how "adult" you are, you're never too old to be loved by your parents. It makes me appreciate even more how my mother still calls me and my brother (despite us being 32- and 22-years-old, respectively) by our childhood nicknames, Pussycat and Tchotchke (Yiddish for "knickknack"). Pigeonholing this as a children's book is like saying "Romeo & Juliet" is merely a cautionary tale about drug abuse. I dare anyone to read this story and not shed at least one tear by the end. Oh my, I had never read this, but it came up in my facebook feed - others were remembering it and talking about how good it is, so I ordered it. They were not wrong. It is a perfect small story for the ages. Sweet, sentimental, just have a box of tissues nearby.

I got this book for my daughter when she was little, then again for my preschool class and finally for my granddaughter. It's sad, a tearjerker, but so loving.I read it to the other grandma and had to sing Wheels on the Bus to her when she teared up.

I have bought this book many times as gifts for people let me say this is the absolute most inexpensive gift. You could buy somebody that will have lifelong memories for those who read it and for the children they read it too. I have had several babies& young children who are now adults & they tell me how much this book meant to them.Its especially great for children who come into a circumstance where they don’t have their loved ones right with them. It could be death or divorce. Etc …It’s just the best the first time I heard it was Mother’s Day at my church 30 years ago . (maybe less )This is My gift to anyone who is pregnant or simply loves a child .

This book will make you and mommy to be cry!, especially if she's having a boy ! I read it to my sons when they were young. I read it to my grandchildren and will continue to, as more come along. We asked for books instead of cards to identify who the shower gifts were from. It was a great idea and the cost was equal to a card!

The new trend at baby showers are no cards, bring a children's books that you liked as a kid, either new or used. My daughter's friend was having her first child but I wouldn't allow my daughter to give up any of the books I have saved for her, so..... this was my brilliant idea. It's the book Joey does a dramatic reading to Emma, on her first birthday in "Friends", my daughter's all-time favorite show.

What can I say... This is the book that started it all for us. Someone loved us enough to give it to us for our first born (he’ll be 21 this week). We read it to our kids and sang it to them every night of their childhood. We still sing it over them (19 & 21) with such fondness.So we pay it forward and give it to every couple we know as their child is born.
