Living sober is a must have for anyone in AA or a 12 step program. It really provides a framework for living a life in a manner that does not make you crave any substance. A simple and easy, yet profound read. Really good!

This 1979 edition is a wonderful AA resource that anyone who wants to stay sober can benefit from. There's a lot of examples that talk about learning new thoughts and behaviors in the ways we can approach other people and the world. It lets you know what AA is about, but it lets you decide for yourself whether you want to be part of it or not. The suggestions are all really helpful, and it's a wonderful read.

Thank goodness, No God
As the ONLY official AA book that doesn't mention god, this is the only one that really complies with the AA claim to be non-religious. Therefore it is doubly excellent for atheists and agnostics who want to give up drink and it has helped unknown thousands of newcomers through the early withdrawal stage.What a pity there is no other official AA book for atheists and agnostics put off by the god stuff to cover the later stages - going through the steps. Luckily there are excellent complements in this respect like An Atheists Unofficial Guide to AA - for Newcomers: 2 by Vince Hawkins.
