My daughter is going in to 2nd grade this year and I got this book as a warm up for the summer break. The instructions are clear, the different color coded sections are clear and most of all the work is interesting and fun! The lessons are challenging enough that she is learning without being so difficult that she feels like it's too much work. --Amazon
Our upcoming second grader (Who isn't as thrilled about learning as our other one) has shown strides by using these learning books. He isn't as fast of a learner as some other kids but these activities are colorful and challenging without being super hard. We are so glad we purchased this book for the summer so he could get ahead and not lose his "learning stride" that they get during the school year. --Amazon

Joan Hoffman, M.A., is the author and co-author of hundreds popular storybooks and workbooks for children. Among the titles are Peter’s Dream, I Don’t Like Peas, and The New Bike (the latter two published under the pen name Marie Vinje), the Get Ready for Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade workbook trio, along with the entire Get Ready, Little Thinker, I Know It!, Try-n-Spy, and Little Busy Book workbook series.
She is also co-founder, along with her late husband James Hoffman, Ph.D., of School Zone Publishing. Visionary in business, she has long looked at the world through a child’s eyes, infusing her stories and lessons with joy and relatability.
As a mother of 4 back in the ‘70s, like moms the world over throughout history, she wanted what was best for her children. And she knew that teachers didn’t have the time to give her kids everything they needed. As an elementary school teacher, Hoffman worked hard to give her students what they needed to learn. And parents would ask her what they could do to help. That’s why she started School Zone—to help give children every possible chance to reach their potential.

The skill of the book for my 6, 7 yr olds was excellent! It hit a lot of areas of learning in the required subjects including English, Math, Science, including Vocabulary, Writing, Reading, Science, Math, Graphing… such as Words, and Analysis; Writing and parts of a sentence, Parts of Speech, Nouns, Verbs, Pronouns, Adjectives, Antonyms, Synonyms, Homophones, Contractions and Blends; Writing- understanding what you read and write; Math from Before n After, Number placement, Number facts, 1, 2,3, number add/subtraction; Problem solving, Grouping, Before, Between, After/ Greater n Less/ single, double, and 3 digit adding n subtraction/ Graphs, Tally’s, Pictographs, Bar graphs/ Money, Maps, Measurements, Clocks, Calendars, and introductions to Multiplication/. Science, including Life Science, and Earth Science, among many other well- rounded subjects!! They didn’t skimp on learning and spent a good bit of time for the child to grasp and hang onto what they were learning! Worked well with some other materials I had and alone! My children have enjoyed this book!!! Very informative!!!!! As a homeschooling Mom- I recommend this book!!!

Book was a great price. Book is durable. Book has a variety of subjects and lessons. I really appreciate it has the answer key as well as perforated pages this was the best bonus for me, my whole reason for giving 5 stars. Sometimes having separate pages is best. Will definitely be buying other school level books 📚 like this.

This second-grade workbook is really helpful for my kids aged 8. It has 320 pages full of fun and educational activities that cover a lot of subjects. The only thing is that some pages are a bit repetitive.

I have the PreK, Kinder, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade volumes of this book. I do see how they are all very similar but adds a little bit more information in each advancing grade level. I do think that a student needs to have a parent or other adult guide them through this because what is being asked isn't always understood by the student independently. I set my children up with the instructions per page and go through one as an example and it's easy to go from there independently. Overall, I am a huge fan of these as a guided simple curriculum as a teacher and a homeschooling mom.

Great for bilingual children
I bought this book for my 8 year-old son. He goes to a bilingual school, but only learns grammar in French, so we found this workbook excellent to teach him the same in English. And it gives him some more exercises to do in subjects he already does in English at school (maths, science...). I would have liked some stickers though, to put as a reward on the pages when they are well done, hence my 4-star rating.

Diese Serie haben wir bei unserem Urlaub in Amerika kennengelernt, sie ist SUPER! Kinder brauchen aber auch wenn sie sehr gut Englisch können Hilfe beim Ausfüllen.

8才(2年生)の娘に買いました。英語は習わせたことがなく、自宅で英語のアニメなどを毎日1時間位見せて･･･という日が4年間以上続いています。とても英語が好きなようなので、昨年は親子でフォニックスの初歩を学び、独学ながら、こども英語の初歩的な、学力は身についているかなぁ･･･と思い、この本を買ってみました。1冊300ページという大ボリュームのワークシートで1000円以下とは本当にスゴイです。しかもフルカラーで、答えも付いています。一枚ずつミシン目が付いていて、切り取って使用できますので、どこからでもはじめられます。今までインターネット上のfree worksheetをさせていましたので､答えがなくて困ることもありましたので､助かります。色んなジャンルの学習内容があり､とても勉強になります。算数は計算パズルをしたり、簡単なグラフを読み解いたり、時計を読んだり･･･理科的な要素は、天気、宇宙、植物･･･などを英語で学びます。小2では理科がないので､とても面白いと思います。簡単な実験も書いてあり、子どもと一緒に楽しく学んでいます。例）ペットボトルに水と油を入れて、青い色素で水だけに着色して、海を作り､ ゆっくり揺すると波打つ様子を表現できる・・・などかわいいイラストが付いていて、とてもモチベーションがあがいますが、単語としては難しい物もあります。英語の得意なお義母さんは大丈夫だと思いますが、理系で英語全然駄目な私には厳しいです。あちこち辞書を引きながら娘のために一生懸命母も勉強しています。理科的な内容は小学校では習わないような内容も含まれているので英語遊びを通していろんな知識が深まればいいなぁと思います。
