Reviews:
5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the read.
This book is concise and to the point with great information and illustrations that make sense. Lots of good information in this book without giving you things that muddle the learning process
5.0 out of 5 stars Important information for people growing their own fruit.
This booklet is simple and to the point, but allowed me to learn how to graft some fruit trees. Looking forward to putting it to more use this winter, when grafting some heirloom apple trees.
4.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet grafting guide
Short but sweet. Very useful book to learn about grafting trees. It contains helpful definitions, diagrams, pictures, and the simple science of grafting. Also contains a grafting Q and A in the back.
5.0 out of 5 stars Provides "Country Wisdom"
This bulletin met my expectations and provided me with a few new ideas and techniques. If I only learned one thing from this bulletin, it would be money well spent. I learned several so its money in the bank.If you are familiar with extension service bulletins, then you have a good idea of Storey's bulletins. They provide simple "nuts and bolts" subject matter....as opposed to "Cake and ice cream". They are short, usually around 20 pages or so.
5.0 out of 5 stars how to graft a tree
Good basic and not so basic informationI would be confident to attempt some grafts and expect them to be successfulWorth the money and would recommend to anyone wishing to make grafts on trees.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good intro to Stone Fruits, etc but not citrus. Bit outdated and some editing issues.
No mention of citrus, which is disappointing because that's what I'm most interested in grafting but understandable given the climate where the author lives. Also, there are a good deal of typos and misspellings throughout the book along with a few improperly labelled figures. The techniques are also somewhat outdated when it comes to graft sealing. The book was seems to be written before grafting tape was in common use and so it is not recommend. Thus the author relies heavily on wax and rubber sealants instead. It's not a bad introduction to grafting for $3 but if you're looking for modern techniques or citrus specifics, you won't find it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Growing interest
If you want to experiment with grafting, here you are.
4.0 out of 5 stars Information is available on the internet for free.
You can get this good information on the internet for free, but not in an easy to read book form. It is nice to have a book when you are working. Small, compact size, not a bunch of 8X10 papers stapled together. Buy it!
Excellent introduction to the dark art of tree budding and grafting
A very useful synthesis of all that a budding (sorry!) grafter needs to know before they start out, explaining optimal timings, the pros and cons of different techniques, and advice re suitable varieties for different growing conditions, produce requirements and grafting compatibility. Its just a small book that can be read in a couple of evenings, but one for dipping back into as required and as your grafting prowess develops.
Useful for understanding pruning techniques
Simple, useful for understanding of different pruning techniques.
Should be more elaborate so that it is useful for an amateur gardener
It is too brief. Should be more elaborate so that it is useful for an amateur gardener. It is nether here nor there!
Looks great
Good info can’t wait to put it to the test
Grafting
A useful book on grafting which every gardener should find useful.Reasonably priced and easy to follow. Not really for amateurs though.
