Dr. David Thompson lived an incredible life in the jungles of Africa. It’s incredible what our CREATOR can do through us when we’re willing to serve HIM even in a land that’s spiritually hostile and dark. May those of us who follow our LORD and KING JESUS CHRIST always be ready to battle the forces of satan and bring the Good News to those around us.

On Call is a marvelous book. Every book in this series is very good. They provide enough detail to bring you into the story--not really a story as they cover real life events. They are sizable to our short tension span population.

I love Dr. Thompson's frankness, humility, and humor as he examines part of his journey as a missionary doctor. It is a great testament that God uses imperfect people in unexpected ways to do amazing miracles

In a world ripped apart by war, a missionary couple is killed. Their son begins a long road to wards college, medical school and eventually surgical training, in order to return to the mission field where his parents died. Along the way he discovers God's hand working all around him. The path he follows leads far from his dream and in an honest and candid style, the author reveals his disappointment and frustration. There are valuable lessons learned in the process about sacrifice, servanthood, joy and commitment. ON CALL is peppered with stories that reflect a keen sense of humor.An "easy read" that will challenge an uplift.

I met Dr. Thompson when I was in college. His stories are still inspiring and I am so glad I found these books. He has learned a lot about faith and the ways of God. I highly recommend this book. Its one that is hard to put down.

This book is eye opening to the sufferings of people in poor countries and a call to find a way to reach the needy everywhere.
