First, the cover photo is amazing and the binding is adorable. Even if you don't open it up and make one of the delicious recipes or read about hosting different parties or events, it is very pretty. I think this book would be great given as a house warming present for a young couple. A seasoned (older) adult will skipping all the hosting tips to look at the recipes. Some of the recipes are kind of basic like Texas Sheet Cake or Deviled Eggs and I will tell you my grandma would probably be offended if I bought her this. I really enjoy this book and love all the great aesthetically pleasing foodie pictures with great tablescapes. Happy Purchase.

This book is AMAZING! Simple tasty pleasures! I am so inspired! I love the manner it was written, such as by party or gathering. The greatest aspect is, that you can let your creative imagination go wild. I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Heiskell!I enjoyed her last book "What can I bring?"This book is even better! I can use each party theme for several types of parties!Need something in an unplanned pinch? This is a delectable and reliable source! I'm ready to party Southern Style, all year long!I didn't get to read the first released back in my grandmother day, but I can tell this is my most favorite cook, party, and event planning book! I love some of the short cuts, tips and tricks. I'm already sold on the next book, that hasn't hit the market yet! But I'm looking forward to it! Keep showing us ways to wow our guest as "we" , the entertainers" sit back and smile with great satisfaction of a job well done!

I’ve been wanting this book for so long and for some reason it went out of stock several times so when I finally saw it go back on sad I had to purchase. I’m a long time subscriber to Southern Living and this does not disappoint. I haven’t had time to make the recipes yet but they all look amazing and if I’m going off previous experiences with SL and the author, there won’t be an issue. The pictures are pretty the menus are nice and I am not sure why it’s a negative to have a church theme thrown in there like another reviewer commented on, but you can appropriate the meals for many events -I think that’s the great thing about the recipes. Hope she comes out with more books soon!

I also purchased the first Southern Living Party Cookbook. This isn't the same quality or size nor does it come with a jacket cover. The top right corner is crushed in. Poor packing. I'll keep the book. The recipes look good.

I checked this out of the library and did not want to turn it back in, so I bought my own. This book has a lot of great ideas and recipes for all different occasions.

I ordered my copy of The Southern Living Party Cookbook: A Modern Guide to Gathering last week and loved it! My daughter-in-law saw it and loved it too so I just sent her a copy to have for her home too! It's got great recipes and wonderful southern wit to boot!
