Reimagining Evangelism: Inviting Friends on a Spiritual Journey (Reimagining Evangelism Curriculum Set)

Description:

Finalist, Fourth Annual Outreach Resource of the Year

Sometimes talking about Jesus with your friends can feel like trying to close a deal on a sales call, pushing something on people they may not really want. But what if you thought of it more like inviting them on a spiritual journey?

Imagine being free to be yourself and free for the Spirit to work in you. Imagine that it doesn't depend on you alone but that you can be an important part of a witnessing community. Imagine telling people stories instead of trying to download content.

Here is your invitation to reimagine what evangelism could be for you.

Review:

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a great book!

D.J. · July 12, 2017

Evangelism to me was getting people to say the "sinners prayer". This breaks all that old mindset off. It has helped me see the spiritual journey we are all on, and how to partner with what God is doing. Evangelizing isn't a script, and sealing the deal on conversion. It's just doing life with others on a journey, sharing about what Jesus did for my journey so that you can see the potential for freedom in your life. Such a great book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Correction for Evangelism Practices Today

M.F. · July 22, 2017

Richardson brings to light the ways that evangelism in the West needs to reclaim a patient, listening posture to the Holy Spirit and a genuinely enjoyable, natural expression of love for Jesus to replace the awkward, forced salesmanship it's taken on in the last few decades. With relevant stories and insights, Reimagining Evangelism takes us into what effective evangelism looks like in a post-Christian America. The only thing I found lacking in this book was exposition of Jesus' clearest teachings on evangelism (as in Matthew 10) and its implications for discerning spiritually interested persons today. I fear that in emphasizing the ways evangelism ought to be less forced, this book might have lost a bit of the urgency for evangelism.
