I read this as a school book and was absolutely in love with it by the end. The characters are relatable, it’s fast paced, the chapters leave you in a cliff hanger every-time. And the story is filled with good morals. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great child's version of second best selling book of all time

Great book

5.0 out of 5 stars , But the Kindle version is missing a significant piece

A.T. · February 29, 2012

Little Pilgrim's Progress is a lovely little story of the Christian walk. I loved it and re-read it many times as a kid, and even as a fairly precocious child I didn't feel liked I was being talked down to. I'm re-reading it some forty years later and I'm still finding it sweet and comforting, still affected by the characters and the simple but vivid imagery of the lessons that Little Christian learns along his journey to the Celestial City.I'm giving this five stars because I love the story so much, but I'm hugely disappointed that the Kindle version omits several important paragraphs in which Little Christian meets the Shining Ones who tell him that the King loves him and forgives him, dress him in new clean clothes and give him a little scroll which he will need to enter the Celestial City. Not exactly minor details there. I'm only a few chapters in so I don't know if any other parts are missing. I certainly hope not!I recommend finding this story in another version published with more care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best allegory of all time - Children's edition

R.H. · November 4, 2024

Fantastic adaptation of John Bunion's classic. This is a great story and allegory to introduce children to the struggle of good versus evil and many of the related nuances. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great story that captures much more than fantacy. Enjoyable for adults as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet lessons for children (and adults)

E.K.C. · June 9, 2023

This story which parrallels John Bunyon's Pilgrim's Progress is a reminder of the great love Christ has for us and the trials He will see us through. He gives us His word, provides friendship and encouragement through other "pilgrims," and sometimes sends messages meant just for us. There will be temptation and hardship on the way and even if we leave the path and give in to those temptations, He still loves us. I did not agree with all the theology but for the most part there were good lessons to learn.

Making a classic more widely readable.

I purchased this book as it is required for my sons schooling reading. I have read pilgrims progress myself and have a good concept of old English but still found it hard going in some parts. What this book does so well is to bring out the most important parts in a easy to understand way, it leaves out the theologic terminology often found in the original, but conveys the spirit of the meaning to a childs level.I view this book not just as a work of fiction but as a wonderful and spiritual help that always agrees with the truths of Scripture. I think it is wonderful reading.Highly reccomended.

A great book to read to the kids

D.V. · March 16, 2023

I wanted a book to read to my kids and this one is perfect. It's a classic story that is retold in a simple and accessible way. The short chapters are ideal for nightly reads that do not take too long and we can read an extra one if we choose. Highly recommended.

My daughter is enjoying the book

Such a great version of a classic story

K.R. · January 18, 2020

This version is simplified for children and uses more modern language than the original (but you will still have to explain some archaic words or phrases to your child). My five year old is loving it. We watched a video version first, so that he understood the story line, and then read this book. He was able to follow along easily, and to understand some of the basic spiritual lessons. I look forward to reading this with him multiple times at different ages as he can grasp more complex ideas. In this version, Christian is a young boy rather than an adult. The first half of the book tells of Christian's journey to the Celestial City, and the second half is about Christiana, who follows after. There are illustrations every few pages.

Super great book!
