I loved the "digging for gold" references throughout the book. What we look for, per the author, is what we find! So often I have missed opportunities to grown my kids character, instead focusing on sports, activities, and just staying busy. Also, I have been guilty of not really listening to the kids and being distracted. This book has challenged me, in a good way, to look for ways to grow my kids' character, TRULY listen to them, give acceptance, approval, and love. I tend to struggle with perfectionism and performance and this book helped me realized that perfectionism affects my parenting. Renee warns readers to be aware of criticism and comparison. This really spoke to me, "Open your hands and let go of what you want so you can get to know and enjoy the child God gave you. " Amen! Thank you, Renee, for your words of encouragement and sage, biblical advice. I highly recommend this book!

I purchased this book for a new mom and found myself wishing I’d had a resource like this when I was raising my three children. I know that moms are busy. This book is written in 30 concise chapters that each pack valuable ideas and encouragement. Every chapter points to God and how we can connect with Him in every area of raising our children. It’s a book to read now, and keep going back to. What a comfort to know you’re not the only one who faces challenges, hard days and discouragement. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a heart for raising kids to know that they are loved, valued and cherished. I want to buy a copy for every young mom I know. Renee Swope is authentic and approachable. I believe moms, dads, grandparents, teachers and anyone else who has or works with children can benefit from Renee’s experience and wisdom.

That you are not enough.I can.In A Confident Mom , Rene Swope shares her struggles. You are not alone and you are enough.She also shares and gives you a focus on what really matters and what your children really need from you. This perspective can transform the way you see yourself and your parenting.The book is full of stories, wisdom and practical tips to apply and help guide you , help you grow and to help you be a confident mom.I wish had this resource when my children were smaller. This book is definitely worth your time to read. It just may save you from those negative “bad mom” thoughts.

Wow. I have read a lot of books intended to encourage moms, but this one lands itself right at the top of the pile. With powerful combination of vulnerable and personal stories, mixed with wisdom, encouragement and God's Word, Renee Swope has created a beautiful gift for any mom to give to herself or another fellow mother. One of my favorite aspects of A Confident Mom has to be the practical, powerful tips on how to better ourselves as mothers (and just women in general) through the gift of God's grace. The "24 Traits to Help You Notice and Nurture Character" toward the end of the book is an amazing addition as well. Moms, be sure to add this one to your bookshelf--you won't regret it!
