5.0 out of 5 stars I love this collection!

B. · January 29, 2024

In terms of dynamic credibility, this edition is NOT the most accurate. It is forcing the editor's interpretation. But the print quality and the paging are amazing. I absolutely love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the professors scare you away.

c.r. · May 24, 2013

I'm amazed at how acerbic the negative reviews of this volume are. I've used this edition for many years, have played several of the sonatas and have followed along in the scores of others while listening to recordings. I have yet to detect a wrong note or other fault in these scores. The Ur-text might be fine if you're a professor who knows how to decipher it, but for those who are grateful for fingerings and spelled-out ornaments, this text is great. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The premier collection of Mozart's piano sonatas

M. · March 22, 2009

I have urtexts of some of these piano sonatas, and I would like to emphasize how helpful it is to be given recommended fingerings for certain passages, especially if one plans on playing these pieces without the help of an instructor. In addition, there tend to be fewer bars per page, which makes reading the music much easier.I would not hesitate to recommend this product for anyone who wants to play Mozart's sonatas; it is better than the other books I have used.

Would be nicer with ring binder

w. · December 2, 2020

No ring binder so have to press hard on the book spine to keep certain pages open but not too bad.

19 Sonate di Mozart

M. · February 23, 2017

Un vero affare, ho preso il libro come usato, pagandolo un prezzo irrisorio, ma in realtà è nuovo ed ha giusto qualche macchietta sul retro della copertina. La spedizione è stata velocissima come sempre. Davvero soddisfatto.

Mozart for the fingers

K.M. · August 1, 2011

This is (I think) the first volume of Mozart's Sonatas in the Schirmer's Library, and for me this was a great way to re-acquaint myself with the practice of playing Mozart, following a gap of (mumble) years since I passed my Grade 8. In those days, one routinely learned a Mozart Sonata for one's Royal College of Music exams. I had assumed that, this would be an 'easy graded' version of the original, but as far as I can (now) see, my exam piece (from 1978) is pretty much identical to what I am now playing from Schirmer, albeit in a different key.The book is, of course, great value. In fact, it is almost impossible to use the word 'value' in a meaningful way, given the fact that it should last for years, and will no doubt challenge and reward the persistent player for a very long time.I have always found Mozart's Sonatas to be almost hypnotic and relaxing, when listening to someone else playing them. Now I am finding exactly the same theraputic benefits, when it is my own fingers producing the sounds that I love, albeit somewhat more hesitantly than my recordings. The other great thing about these pieces is that, generally, they may be sight-read initially, but one very quickly attains a degree of competence through practice - so very rewarding, without an extended and humiliating learning curve!
