5.0 out of 5 stars The best part of Slott's run up to this point
This is kind of a random little TPB. Ideally, there'd be a "Spider-Man by Dan Slott" omnibus that collected every last issue from all the different series (Big Time, Superior, Amazing, Worldwide), kinda like DC did for Grant Morrison's Batman, but alas, no such thing exists that I'm aware of. There's a Superior Spider-Man omnibus that collects that series. I also noticed there's an "Amazing Spider-Man by Dan Slott" collection with these issues and the next volume, but I only see it available in hardcover here on Bolo. So skinny little TPB it is - but at least it's a good one.I really enjoyed Superior Spider-Man for the new status quo it created, but I LOVE the status quo created by Peter's return. He now has to deal with everything Otto did while he was in control. Black Cat and Electro hate him. He's got a girlfriend and a company he didn't agree to. The Avengers don't trust him. It's really dramatic! But also frequently hilarious. Not only that, but we get the introduction of new character Silk, which, I thought Slott's Big time storyline was really lacking in new characters, so she is very welcome. This is a great start to this segment of Slott's run.
4.0 out of 5 stars Getting caught up a bit...
Been away from collecting and reading Spider-Man for a few years. Stopped after a few years of Miles Morales storyline, which i liked a lot. Heard about the Spider-verse from the upcoming movie and picked this book to get me started. I am not disappointed! Parker as a tech mogul doesn't seem the most natural fit, but it's growing on me, and the rest of the storyline is great! Looking forward to reading more!
5.0 out of 5 stars Deep end
Peter Parker comes back to himself, literally. But when you've been a backseat driver in your own body for several months, that has it's difficulties. New faces, old enemies, and major relationship dynamics.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for long-time fans and new readers alike.
This is a great jumping-in point for anyone who was a fan of "classic" spidey action, or was left wanting more after the movies.(Small spoilers ahead)Since Peter is recovering from having Doc Oc take over, many things have changed and are confusing for Peter- but if you didn't read Superior Spider-Man, it's all new to you too, which I thought was a great place to start. If you're left wanting more back story you can always check it out, but I thought they did an okay job bringing you up to speed, and the six comics that are included in the book make for a nice story arc that has a satisfying ending that still leaves a couple important threads loose.Long-Time Spider-fans might be annoyed at the tweaking to the backstory, but we get a strong new character out of it and it leads into the Spider-verse (which is yet to be seen if it's good or not).(END SPOILERS)Well worth the read and the price is great when you compare it the $4/issue cover price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Peter Returns!
Great way to kick off the return of Peter & this new volume of ASM. Dan Slott just keeps rolling. Here we get to see Peter dealing with the repurcussions of all the things Otto did as Peter. Now Peter has a GF, a Business, and alot of people who want him dead such as Black Cat & Electro. The story is a great balance of humorous & serious moments and of course amazing art from Ramos. My personal favorite part was the into of Silk. Now that MJ has moved on, it would be nice to see Peter with Silk. They have great chemistry. I highly recommed this to all fans of great comics.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
Love Dan Sports writing but not as good as his Thing and She hulk. Too much Marvel comics love for the bad guys at the expense of good guy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Way fun!
Fun, Deadpool-esque humor, standalone storyline with a sexy new acolyte. Not so sure about the crazy animal themed villains or the bad guys meeting at Deke’s. I feel we need a bit more sophistication and start losing the silly colorful costumes and revamp them for the era.
3.0 out of 5 stars A good start
I'll be quick and honest, I am a long time spider!an fan, even liking the superior a lot. This was a good start in a familiar direction but it was full of a lot of filler pieces that took me out of the main narrative which I was not expecting. But after that whole part the rest of the volume was great definitely recommend for fans or minor newcomers.
