Beautiful pin ups
2.0 out of 5 stars Pass. Gambled and lost on a compilation book
I was tempted by the book with the examples provided on the cover and seeing that it included works from Armando Huerta. What I got was a mixed bag of good and bad, with some that could even been questioned as "pin-up" The book attempts to chronicle 15 modern pin-up artist. But I found that some of the artist just were not ready for primetime. The publisher would have been better off selecting the 7 (or so) best artists in this book and filled the pages with their work. Some of the art just seems amateur and undeveloped. There are jewels in this book. Works by Matt Dixon, Sean Early, Armando Huerta, Ed Mironiuk, Dave Nestler, Dirk Richter and Sonia Roji are my picks from this book. But being a compilation, most of the pages include multiple images per page. I would have preferred more full-page prints to better appreciate the details of the original work. I hope this book give this publisher an opportunity to product single artist art books from these artist. Next time, I'll stick to what I know.
